I have this Cobra ST37 handheld radio. Problem is, I havent been able recieve anything. Ive been driving around, cycling through the channels, Im not sure if this thing works at all!! I going on a long drive, and I thought it might be helpful to listen in on the trucker channels. Is there anyway to test it?

16 is standerd channel...you also have a volume and squelch which is like a zero in effect on the signal. I think I recall 14 being emergency only channel. Yea there awsome ...truckers spot cops and will tell the public what mile marker or land mark. Some models need to registered with FCC.

19 is the trucker channel, keep the squelch **** turned counterclockwise, that will help ou pick up even the faintest signal.
There are ways to test it, but you need the right equipment.
I was big into the CB thing in the late 80's/early 90's. In my house, in my car. Galaxy export rig+2000watt linear amp. If I still had that **** I could reach you on your hand held!!!

i got one for me and my gf and my bro. i thought they worked better than they did without amplification. i thought they would work all over town but found that they dont. i had the thing installed in the 7 but took it out bc it wasnt working very well and i didnt want to spend the money on an amp for me and my gf.

put it on channel 19 and get on and say "breaker one nine radio check"
I'm dead serious. try it in a couple different places. If somone hears you, they will respond. If you can't get anything anywhere, its probably either weak, or broken.
