Well, the opportunity came to me last night that I can pick up an 86 CRX no major body damage (just small dents), stock motor with auto tranny for $600. He will even let me pay him $100 a month, just so i can have an extra car (since I sold My TII all I do is complain) and he can extra space at his house. My friend who is selling it wants to get rid of it cause he needs the garage space to bring his gsr over to swap the parts into his 93 SI. Thats why he is letting it go cheap.

The engine justs needs to have the carb tuned up cause its having problems going up steep hills. Another part that is making me seriously consider this deal is that for $400-$600 more when he is done with his motor swap he will sell me his SI motor and tranny (manual). Everything that has to go along with the swap. Everything bolts right in, I would just need to pick up some new motor mounts, new brake pedal and clutch assembly. They will even help one weekend to do the swap with me.

I am considering this because the !st gen Bridgeport I was gonna pick up in January is getting a little to touchy with me. The owner (A close friend of mine) doesnt wanna sell me that car cause he thinks I'll have problems with getting smogged and I work next to a Sheriffs Station and he doesnt wanna see the car go to someone who he'll see every now and then. He's selling it becaue he got married and has too many other cars. BMW2002, another 1st gen, VW Thing, Chevy Astro Van, VW Jetta. He said he might consider talking one of his other friends to sell me his 1st gen street port.

What do you guys think I should do. Its only one or the other. and the 7's arent even for sure yet. Should I get the crx and have a total sleeper and save up for a 3rd gen for the mean time, or just hold it out and see if he'll sell me the 1st gen?

I'm not trying to start a war or anything but get that crx and make it a sleeper. I've had 4 first gen crx's. One was an 85 si E prepared car that ran 15.0 in the 1/4 NA with the stock 12 valve 1.5 liter and handled like a go cart. I had it down to 1580 lbs. For daily drivers they are good and reliable too with great gas mileage.

I'd be all over that. crx's weigh about as much as me and my roommates bunkbeds. crx + B18C5 = 13s in the quarter. That car has potential *** kicking written all over it.

I'd do it, sounds like fun, and you can't beat the price.
