I only know about the diesel trucks, not the diesel suv's. The new 2004 F-250 V8 Diesel's are super nice. Especially the supercharged ones. Those things can hand a TII its *** any day. Serious ******' pick up.



That is all we have at work is deisel trucks. Minus like two gas powered F-150's. All the mechanics have F-550's that weigh about 10,000 pounds, and those things can still haul ***. One of the mechanics is pushing like 600hp. And you should see turbo's on them. We also have some F-850's around and even one F-950. Custom **** is craaaazy.



I would like a Turbo Powered Rotary Diesel. I think we all need to sign a petition to Mazda and have them make a Diesel Fueled Rotary engine.

For some reason I always thought diesel's would get better gas mileage? But as cheap as diesel is, I'm sure you truck owners are loving this.

the ford powerstrokes are nice. the problem is do u know where the diesel stations are? get quick to learning. good luck with the purchase

Diesels do get better mileage. They also make a **** ton more power. Diesel is and probably always will be cheaper then gas.



Yes the new 6.0l powerstrokes are alot quieter and more powerful. Look around the web at some of the performance parts you can get for diesel trucks these days, its ******* crazy how much power some of these guys are making.

How does a diesel start? There's no injectors right? I guess I should look this up on howstuffworks.



It just doesn't seem like a diesel will make enough exhaust to keep the cycle going...

One of our shop mechanics has an F-550 with a crane, air compressor, and about 3k pounds of tools added. He is pushing 500+hp with just a computer upgrade. And the thing has some ******* serious torque. He hauls big 3000 pound excavator buckets in that thing, and has no problems. He can haul bobcats in the thing also with no problems. Amazing what they can do these days.

When cold they use glow plugs to heat the incoming air and it uses compression to fire off the mixture. There are no spark plugs or coils or distributors. After that it just keeps the cycle going, no spark just compression until the mix explodes.
