I wish that I could slam some gear with you folks. Sadly even if my car was done I couldn't because the motor needs a break in...
That was the hardest excercise in patience I went thru in a looonnnggg time, waiting for those first miles to sloooowwwly go by! Worth the wait and smart but hard none the less. I feel your pain!

ok first I have to admit BMW girl's dang black box grocery getter beat my sorry butt! She does have turbo etc. but when I had left she had a 15.2 with a dang automatic! She also did one of the best burnouts of the evening! Wound up was also flirting with 13's as he posted low 14's. Allen showed up later had a slow start on his first run but I expect he'll beat me when done.
ok all my excuses first
left 50-60 lbs of crap in my car and had a full fuel tank, at least another 50 lbs I didn't need.
clutch pedal was messed up from the thrashing at Bremerton last friday, even after flushing with a higher temp fluid.
My first ever official drag race with lights. Helps when you figure out taging, don't feel bad Allen I almost messed my first run.
I didn't want to flock up my clutch since I have a nice disc but road rules have me running a stock plate.
Hey mine is a Non turbo!
Allright enough
16.327 on first run .251 reaction. not bad for a 49 yr old. (Had launch advice from a 19 yr old I knew from Toyota days. Happened to be right behind the twins)
16.371 2nd run but reaction was .569
16.217 3rd run reac .234
Lesson learned. Lose the weight, adjust the clutch pedal, finish the cold air box, and learn to shift better. All of which will help me on the road courses I built the thing for. Maybe I can beat the accursed box o'death!
I can say I beat the Hondas I happened to be against each time! by usually a second!

i had continuous 15.7's...... except when i threw in a 300 shot nitrous.( i know, but i couldn't resist. even after that i still ran 15.7's... guess nitrous ain't all that horible!!!!)... i got i think 8 or 9 runs. pretty fun. i'll have to post a pic of my nitrous run..... wish i had it on film though.

Well, it was pretty fun. Great to see those of you who came out.
I drove the 1995 Volvo 850 wagon so woundup could see how it'd do and so he could drive the 7. Unfortunately, he now thinks it is even more badass. I was expecting 16s or high 15s. It's an inline 5 with a stock turbo, 198,000 miles, no mods really except exhaust; took out the air filter for the runs though. Has the cheapest Les Schwab tires you can get - I learned that they smoke really well. The smiles on the guys faces on the line was priceless.
Anyway, started the night with a 15.2 and an RT of .5.
2nd to last run of the night: a 14.800/RT of -.072 so that doesn't count since I jumped the gun - just a little bit though.
Last and best was a... 14.933 RT 0.034.
I was loads of fun even though I only beat two of the cars I ran against a 240Z and an older VW Jetta. No Hondas or Mustangs took me though. Some of my other opponents - Supercharged Cobalt ran a 13.78; Crysler 300 with the 6.1 HEMI SRT-8 ran a 14.1 ; WRX 14.1.
Well I smell like burnt rubber and race gas and am getting tired so I'll post up some pics later. Hope to see more of you all out at motorsport events in the future. (Next AutoX at Bremerton is August 13 - see www.bscc.net for more info or pm me and I can let you know how it works)

Just so you know RT has nothing to do with your time down the track. Your RT can be 3 minutes and you would still run low 15's. The rt is how long it takes you to cross the third beam after the light goes green. The timed run doesn't start until after you've crossed the last beam. It's all aout your 60 ft times. RT's only matter in heads up elimination on a pro tree and bracket racing.
