Ok guyz and galz,

Let's here what your winter projects are ?

First off is the Codeblue car. After the wheel fell off and the fender got banged up. The fender is being fixed as we speak. I went and ordered new front break rotors. Because the drivers side lug holes where striped out...

And I will be putting them on this weekend.

Then theres (Iotus) 85 Gsl-Se turbo.

The front cover gasket needs to changed. Its has been leaking for sometime now.

With in the last few weeks I noticed the exhaust gasket is starting to leak also.

So I have some work to do.

Anywayz...Lets hear them

bstrange99 01-26-2006 08:16 PM

kettlman 01-26-2006 10:01 PM

jenkin 01-26-2006 10:07 PM

i bought/am buying ddubs na motor and am going to put it in my 86na and run nitrous... but that is probably more than a winter project.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

I don't have a "winter" project persay. Just trying to get my car to run as nice as I possibly can, and learn more about both of our cars. Learned alot so far... want to learn more so I dont sound stupid, i still dont know anything about carbs, FI, transmissions, suspension, etc etc etc... but I will know a little more each time i mess with mine... but its a fun car and I really like both of them... want to get an fb for myself someday.

I have my wiper switch and clock/warning cluster to mazdamark for repair, and I am tracking down leaks in my vert. I hope to get some new leather seat covers on it, and the new door panels. Once I get it out of the shop, it's time to out a new driver side fender on the 79, and header panel.

Oh, and I also might be picking up a TII or a GTUs soon.

I have a GSL-SE one...will that work? I also need a TII starter, anyone have one?

I need to finish my fd engine swap into my first gen.

kettlman 01-28-2006 09:51 PM

i believe a auto and turbo 2 are the same. but thats slug stuff

woundup7 01-28-2006 09:56 PM

My two projects are to continually harass Z beater until he finishes his car.

Also doing the fmic thing on my turbo fb, that should wrap up here in the next few days, Planning on hitting 250 to the wheels at abf

rmriggin 01-28-2006 11:31 PM

My plans are to sell my current 7 and start saving. I should be in the market soon (assuming my 7 sells soon) to buy either a GSL-SE or a 2nd gen. I will be looking for something that is pretty straight inside and out. Running of course (even of not well). Basically I want EFI for my next 7. Guess I should probably post my car for sale then if I expect anyone to know it is for sale!?

The funny thing is that I woro on this thing every day. Seriously I am a slow ass worker when it comes to cars. It might be primarily because I really do not have a comprehensive tool chest to root through. That is ok though just takes a little more time. Oh Chris BTW, I have decided to go v-mount. I did not like how the IC was sitting before. I would have had to buy 2 sets of fans and that would not be much cheaper than a rad.

Also the IC pipes will be signifigantly shorter which is always a good thing for reducing lag. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

Seriously V mount. Now I am jealous. What was your original plan in relation to the fmic and rad?

Thanks

Yep, v-mount it is.I mounted up the IC and it blocked the entire rad. I did not like that design so I decided to go v-mount.

My original setup was to use the IC in the same location as you. I actually got all the work done and ready to go just did not like the way that it set. It was a huge waste of time. You have to understand that this setup was proven before. I however only plan on using this on fair weather days so that means that the temperature will be higher than most peoples DD, etc. I also was going to run the stock rad.

With the v-mount I intend on flipping the IC reverse so that the inlet/outlet are really close to the turbo outlet and TB inlet. This will allow for a lot less lag. And since my turbo already is supposidly situated for less lag I should have spool relitivley soon in comparrison to other turbos of this size.

Just to give you a comparrison the AF61(my turbo) with a FMIC supposidly hit 15lbs of boost at around 3700 RPM. I am assuing that the total amount of piping that is used for a FMIC is roughly around 8'. With my setup I will be running about 2-3' total of pipe. Not to mention that it will be all 3" aluminum.

The only downside to this is that I need to purchase a custom radiator and there will be a fair amount of bends in the IC piping. And also mounting all this up will be a little bit of a pain. One piece at a time is crucial though. I have already started the modifications.

Z

rmriggin 01-31-2006 09:42 PM

how do you figure you are going to have a fair amount of IC tubing bends with how you are going to have it mounted? Maybe I am imagining it different but I would think you would only have three 90 degree bends and maybe a 120 degree from the turbo outlet to IC? Maybe you can illustrate as my imagination is not as good as it used to be LOL!

tidbit 01-31-2006 10:11 PM

lets see..... Winter.. as in.. Before the end of april...

opps wrong forum...

dr_strangelove5 02-18-2006 04:44 AM

My winter project is to keep my car running til the end of winter so that should keep me plenty busy. Also, I wanna touch up the paint on some of the body panels oh and get a glass sunroof. I wish I had an awesome winter project but I can barely afford to keep my rx7 running as it is. Someday when I'm loaded I'll convert her into an IMSA pace car replica or maybe I'll just buy a third gen or maybe there will be some sort of crazy fourth gen rx7 out by then. Oh the possibilities!

kettlman 02-19-2006 11:18 PM

well, i got a chance to work a little today. GOT MY HEATER WORKING IN THE VAN that was a bummer this last week. lets see. got my 5th spark plug back to normal working conditions, rebuilt my master clutch cylander, and got my back hatch to pop every time...... that was enough for today.

Hyper4mance2k 02-20-2006 10:20 PM

Codeblue2 you should keep your TB and FI setup. This car ran 10's daily driven. It's a Florid car I wish I had more info. All you need is a t2lower intake mani and a RB upper weber attatchment like Iotus runs. There are my 2 cents.

KompressorLOgic 02-20-2006 10:22 PM

ohh yeah more winter projects, must copy wound up and do a FRONT MOUNT SETUP ALSO!!!! then i need to install my LSD rear diff as well, then go run 13's and be happy https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
