Tom do you have any way to monitor the computer or see if it threw any codes when the boost spike happened?

So basically it boosted 20psi once and since then you havent been able to get more than 5-6 and occasionally 10 and 8? Could your turbos be letting go? Or something got sucked into the turbo housing?

I am baffled. I can't even describe a consistent problem. It's not like it always spools up to 10 and holds it. It was not a one-time 20 lbs and then a problem. It was 5 or 6 lbs in first and second and then 20 in third. Upshift from 3rd to 4th and get 10 - or 6 or 14.

It could be as simple as a gasket leak but if true I would expect never to get 12 or 13. I tightened the rear nuts on the y-pipe using a 1/4" drive, the only thing I could get in there. Maybe it's leaking there. I reused all the gaskets. Back under I go.

So long as I get on the gas slow, I can build some boost but inconsistent levels. Sometimes I boost to 13-14, sometimes to 8-9. In fact, I think inconsistency is the most important characteristic.

I have not had a problem like this since the first year I owned the car. I'm leaking somewhere. I am going to disconnect the PMS today and see what happens on the factory computer. I'll probably lean out and blow up.

Tom that is the strangest thing ever. If it was always low I could see or always high but jumping around is really wierd

Well, not so strange, as it turns out, doofus that I am.

Hose was not off but I switched the hoses behind the manifold so the double throttle was playing hell.

I am going to color code the damn hoses!

I still have somewhat lower boost at lower RPMs than I used to have & I also seem to be spooling up a little slower so I have to do some more fooling around to do but that is what test and tune is all about - that and breakin' stuff.

Nope. Same hoses that came on the car, zip-tied in 1995 & no problems to date, except they are hard as rocks.

I know, I know. I was at the Hose techniquies website tonight.

Bobby, back in your sequential days, did you ever deal with inconsisent boost? I can go rippin and tearin at 15 lbs in 3rd, shift to 4th, slow down, upshift to 3rd and get 5-6 lbs!? Get off the gas, hammer it again and run up to 15 without a problem.

I leave the line in first and get 5-6 lbs, throw to second and sometime fly up to 12, othertimes hold around 8, bucking away.

Something is leaking but I don't follow the inconsistency.

Glad to hear you got things 1/2 figured out. Tom you need to go to the bank of the Wife and ask for a no interest loan to get a nice single and forget all this sequential crap.

Well, I have this belief that going single is not the way to go, complications or not.

Maybe Bobby will let me ride down the track with him so i can get a better feel for the way power develops.

The one t-18 car i rode in had so little off the line I think I could have beaten it on foot, old and fat or not, for the first 75 yds. Then of course all hell breaks loose but I like responsivness in a sports car. But I could change my mind.

N0x on a twisty road? Only with a full roll cage & a nomex suit.

Hard to believe but from time to time, there is more to car-life than a straight line. I still like to run the back roads.
