Well I was up there Saturday testing a bike for a buddy of mine and I didnt see a single RX7 which means Bobby isnt on the road yet either.

Anyone planning on making some trips to the old girl for her last year?

93 R1 05-02-2005 03:51 PM

I'll be there for a few friday nights getting drunk....if that counts

Same thing thats happened to it for a year now....nothing

rfreeman27 05-16-2005 10:07 AM

Still the trans?

I just sold my stock tranny...i should have thought of ya, would have given it to you cheep to get the car running again.

NaughtyFD 05-18-2005 10:03 AM

So Bobby no updates in the other thread whats going on with your car?

Did you hear about the TT LS1 FD that got into the wall at the end of the track during the Hot Rod Pump Gas Drags

rfreeman27 05-22-2005 08:59 AM

at 75-80?

i heard somebody hit the wall up there last weekend.

No, I've been super busy with school (end of the year) and my family is in the process of moving and lax playoffs were going on so i havent had time to sleep, let alone work on the **** box.

In a week or so after we are settled in the car will get finished at a more rapid pace.

NaughtyFD 05-25-2005 08:49 AM

Hey Bobby where are you taking the welding classes? I have been looking for a TIG class and cant find any. Carroll CC has welding classes starting this fall so hopefully if nothing else they will have some.

rfreeman27 05-29-2005 04:55 PM

frederick community college

I think for TIG you have to take the second 'advanced' class

ive gotten pretty good at arc/mig

NaughtyFD 06-01-2005 09:25 PM

Well my headers are done. That is good news

NaughtyFD 06-02-2005 09:31 AM

If you want to check out my handy work installing my 10 point go here:

Damn I am good

rfreeman27 06-02-2005 09:43 AM

sweet!

NaughtyFD 06-02-2005 10:11 AM

Thanks man.

It took a while to fit the cage by myself but it is just how I want it.

Hey what did you use to paint yours? I was thinking some engine block paint. That stuff is super strong and has rust inhibitors in it too.

rfreeman27 06-02-2005 07:27 PM

mine is unpainted...luckly the chrommolloy hasnt rusted yet

i was just going to throw some primer on there and then paint it flat black, easy to touch up if it gets knicked, wolnt be distracting either

NaughtyFD 06-03-2005 07:50 PM

I thought you used mild steel not chromoly

tcb100 06-04-2005 10:45 AM

Bobby when is your twin turbo beast gonna actually hit the road?

I plan to get back to the tracks in September. I screwed up another transmission, ate up the syncros, so that brand new one lasted around two years.

I just put in a rebuild so at least I can get the car into gear now.

So all in all, I am exactly where I was two years ago! Progress!

NaughtyFD 06-04-2005 07:08 PM

You need more power tom that way you wont break the trans https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

tcb100 06-05-2005 09:41 AM

I have to admit that I am getting the itch. I keep resisting the evil force, but a single may be in my future for next year.

Ya know, I could not have run the car more than 30 times with that brand new tranny in it. I only missed one shift, an ugly miss I admit, but all in all, powershifting may not be a good idea.

rfreeman27 06-05-2005 11:18 AM

If you need any help installing that single let me know, ive done it about 15 times now lol...

RoxyMatt93 06-05-2005 12:03 PM

If any of you guys head out to 75 / 80, let me know via PM. I'm not picking my FD up until December or January, as I'm saving to buy one cash, but would be interested in meeting and talking to some forum members in the mean time. I'm down to the final stretch, and have a good bit to learn on the 13B yet.

Matt

NaughtyFD 06-15-2005 07:26 PM

Bobby, what your status?

Schools out you on the road yet?

rfreeman27 06-16-2005 11:22 PM

wiring is done. Gonna start it this weekend.

Then to kayos to get a PPF and i'm rollin!

NaughtyFD 06-17-2005 08:16 AM

Sweet.

You still went with the Lenko right? I cant wait to see/hear your car. I havent been around a high HP rotary other than D's and his isnt really a rx7 any more now, it is much more a race car.

rfreeman27 06-17-2005 10:28 AM

jerico... Yeah it's in there. Looks ******* badass too

Hows your car coming?

Dee's car isnt a rx7, but it's a rotary...

I should have my motor next week. I have the cage in and partially painted. I fabbed the fuel cell in last night (Looks good). Now I have to figure out where to put the fuel pump (Thing is HUGE) and then rewire the car. Probably a day for wiring and a day for the fuel plumbing. After that the car should be drivable again.

Then it goes in for paint. It is coming together but I HAVE to have done and tested by late July because of a event.

rfreeman27 06-18-2005 08:41 PM

How'd you paint the cage? just spray cans?

Take some pics of your fuel cell. I think i'm just going to stick with the stock tank for now, there are a lot of rules with fuel cells i dont feel like ******* with.

NaughtyFD 06-18-2005 09:29 PM

Yes just cans of engine enamel paint. That stuff is hard so it should hold up ok.

The biggest pain is isolating from the drivers compartment. PAIN IN THE ASS.

NaughtyFD 06-20-2005 08:50 AM

Also Bobby you may want to look at sumping the stock tank. A couple of the LS! FD guys did it and it looks good and allows you to use a BIG external fuel pump if necessary.

that is what i'm reffering to..

I just dont want to deal with it. got any pics/info of what you are talkin about?

NaughtyFD 06-20-2005 12:40 PM

Sure do. Here are some of the sumped tank.

NaughtyFD 06-20-2005 01:20 PM

Hey Bobby you still have those 28" ET Streets you wanted to trade for my 26"??

I think I am still gonna need the taller tire.

Let me know, maybe we can meet sometime this week or weekend.

rfreeman27 06-20-2005 07:47 PM

Yes i have them, Let me know when you wanna trade i can do it whenever!

NaughtyFD 06-21-2005 08:28 AM

I will be around all weekend. You live right near the track right? Would you be able to meet me in say Mt Airy? That is half way between us. Maybe Saturdaymorning sometime.

Let me know.

rfreeman27 06-23-2005 11:13 AM

yeah MT airy would be cool

NaughtyFD 06-23-2005 12:34 PM

Ok. I will take the wheels off tonight. Can you PM me your phone number? I may have my buddy Nate meet you since he lives right in MT Airy if that is ok

rfreeman27 06-24-2005 01:04 AM

what ever you want to do. Are we swapping wheels as well?

-bobby

NaughtyFD 06-24-2005 02:46 PM

It would be easiest to do it that way I think. Mine are in great condition except the center caps which you can keep your old caps if you want to as long as your wheels are in good shape.

Either way is fine with me.

rfreeman27 06-25-2005 06:29 PM

mine are powdercoated a nice silver...
