Day 2: After a Frustrating day with Great Neck socket set (mostly 12 point) I decided to go tool shopping. I looked around RX7forums for a tool guide and saw that I should look for a simple set of tools. I bought some wrenches, gloves, breaker bar, 1/2 to 3/8 adapter for it, and a small socket set...looks like I'll need to buy a couple more sockets and maybe an extra extension, but for the most part I'm relatively happy with what I purchased and shouldn't have to worry about rounding anything new off. Also picked up a jack that I don't have to pull up on the fender while trying to slide it into place with my foot and a pair of jack stands. Also wound up buying a magnet on a stick that looked like it might come in handy.

At this point it was late and so I figure it was time to turn in for dinner.

Gas station burrito! A secret passion of mine (though I prefer the harder to find beef and bean) which always leaded to the "office" where I can get some reading and studying done.

Decided to learn about cats and air pumps since I just took out the air pump.

Day 3: I went to O'Rielly's to pick up some shop towels, more PB Blaster, lots of brake cleaner, and some engine degreaser.

And then I got stuck:

Day 4 (the downpipe magically popped off right in my hand for some unknown reason;; oh yeah I also went and pick up a set of safety glasses from O'Rielly's after a couple days of rust/dust in the eyes solidified by a nice drop of PB Blaster;; buy safety glasses...a couple days of irritation was my consequence):

Hello turbo!

Oh yeah also worth noting is that the stock midpipe is pretty heavy. I didn't think much of it until it landed no me.

This is about the point I realized that there would be no returning to twins for me (etched into my memory is white on right for the connector).

Yeah took me quite awhile to weasel the turbo out as I was catching on lines and whatnot. I wound up having to stand on top of the intake manifold with my right foot and the radiator support with my left foot and lift and shimmy it out. Thankfully it was night time so no neighbors to witness this spectacle.

Dropped a nut inside! I was actually happy though.

but stopped as I figured that I needed a new T4 divided gasket and thought I should do some research, but there aren't many reviews on gaskets. Also thought I might need a gasket for the wastegates since I saw that one had one and the other did not. So a lot of research on bit and pieces and fasteners. It's going to take me quite awhile to figure out what I need as I need it. I keep learning more and more though and it honestly seems never ending. I just ordered block off plates from Banzai racing, along with a GM 3-bar. Extremely fast shipping and I just want an excuse to order something else from them. Hell I even got a Christmas card!

  • CJ Motorsports base fuel kit w/ regulator
  • Supra fuel pump (already have one waiting to be picked up, but need to figure out where I can get a new "sock" for it).
  • Injector Dynamics injectors (either 725cc or 1000cc primaries and 2000cc secondaries).
  • looking at fuel filter solutions as well perhaps something similar to this: OEM fuel line to braided line to AEM fuel rail, install. - Honda-Tech for ease of maintenance.
  • Also trying to figure out the Marren fuel pressure dampener and how/if I would benefit from it.
  • Potentially a boost-a-pump as well.

I've added a few more things to the must do list:
  • Excessive or Ground Zero lower intake manifold
  • JDM upper intake manifold (have to figure out what years are cleaner)
  • Triumph AIT sensor, but am not sure whether to relocate it or not
  • Aquamist water injection (how far upstream from AIT sensor should it be if I were to relocate?)
  • Datalogit
  • PLX wideband (perhaps)
  • Air Pump replacement pulley (but which one to get to work with the single)
  • sell the Defi EGT gauge and get the dual EGT guage that is available
  • Odyssey PC680 (relocated to the passenger side bin)
  • 140 amp alternator rebuild (though will I need it if I'm not going with underdrive pullies?)
  • Possibly sell the PFS intercooler for an M2 large
  • figure out what kind of filter I need for the M2 air box
  • Barefoot sway bar mounts (or the RE Amemiya bar)
  • Tanabe front and rear sway bars

I think anyways....oh well once again nice to meet you all and look forward to learning what I can from you.

Thanks for the welcome.

jinx

[jingks] Show IPA–noun1.a person, thing, or influence supposed to bring bad luck.–verb (used with object)2.to bring bad luck to; place a jinx on: The strike has jinxed my plans to go to Milwaukee for the weekend.3.to destroy the point of: His sudden laugh jinxed the host's joke.

I've learned to accept it and look at it as an opportunity to learn a lot about it. It's way better when you live in the same state as your car that's eating your money. Plus the daily driver makes it tolerable now that I can go job hunting and I'm back in college this spring. I figure just learn, learn, learn.

run two stroke oil in the gas and eliminate the OMP. banzai sells a kit to eliminate it and chris or elaine (husband and wife team) are always willing to answer questions no matter how simple they may be.
