i race on a 1/4 mile asphalt track banked at 12 degrees, the very first car i drove was a 75 mitsubishi lancer celeste, 2.6 H4 rwd etc., the fastest car i drove in that class, which was a stock 4cyl class called thunder stock, was a 92 geo storm base, came with a 1.6 sohc 12v fwd isuzu running gear, its basically an isuzu impulse, i ran that little thing against big american 2.2, 2.5 and ford 2300's, blew them off the track

i live in central florida, polk county to be precise, i have seen a few first gen rx-7s running around here, a white one just yseterday right across the street from where i live, and a black or really dark colord one that looked like it had the new front air dam/bumper

oh and i know what loud is, iv spent alot of time on a smallish track with 20-30 other cars with the exhaust coming from the head about 4 foot back out the rightside door and thats it, when that maybe cars all in the same place are at WOT.. its loud and my v8 is amazingly loud

My buddies mR2 is just a pipe, about 1 foot long, coming out of the exhaust side. it is VERY loud. and he dominates them. he is new to it, and has come in 1,2,3 a number of times. he gets knocked out alot though. lol

it all depeneds on the driver on those courses. he does really well, but the track is shut down for the season. he has his doors welded shut, full roll cage, no windows, no mirros, no lights, just chassis, body, engine, trans, steering, etc. the thing is awesome with a custom paint job too. he actually went crazy with the spray paint cans. stars and stripes.

there is a 2nd gen that races also, and he does horribly every time, so it is always the driver.
