hello everyone, i got my first rx-7 alittle over a month ago, it wouldnt crank at first but i got that sorted, it sat up for about 9 months with the hood open and got rained on a few times due to its previous owners carelessness, its been cranking fine since then but it had a few idle problems, i think its just something being tuned wrong or something messed up somewhere i just cant find and fix, i dont know much about the rotary engine, but that problem aside, its started smoking even after its warm, going down the road if the rpms get to high before you shift it puffs white smoke, it didnt do that until recently, im thinking about rebuilding it and getting rid of the EFI

its an 85 GSL-SE btw

Sweet, you have a gem of a car. What's the color, mileage, etc.? Got any pictures?

i have always loved the rx-7, never could find one cheap enough to get... finally found this one and traded my other car for it

the only thing wrong with it cosmetically is the scratches on the front end and right door, it sat under an aluminum carport during the hurricanes here in florida, and it fell on the car, you'll see what i mean in the picture

only thing i dont like is the brown interior

this is sort of my project car, i dont really want it to be that fast because i want to keep it driveable and reliable for the street, besides i have a circle track car for when i want to go really fast, i started out racing little 4 bangers so im not new to cars, just new to this type of engine

just out of pure bordom i uploaded a shot of my sportsmen, it needs a new body put on it, kinda beat up.. but thats the life of a short track car

its kind of funny how i found this one, i had a 92 geo storm gsi at the time, i was also racing a storm on an oval track, i was looking at a nissan 240 because i was tired of the fwd i was on my way home from looking at the 240 and stoped by my cousins i hadnt seen in along time and he actually had it, couldnt get it to run again so he traded even for a geo storm

i love the little wankel, theres a rule in just about every rulebook at every short track around here, "no turbos, super chargers or rotary engines"

that is simple answer. rotaries dominate!! banned from lemans in 93, but they took the ban off. go figure!!

oval track? you mean dirt racing type? a buddy of mine has a 86 Mr.Deuce(Mr2) that he dirt track races, and the thing is so awesome. and loud as ***** too!! it also run's like a 13.

nice track car btw.
