Hello all. I have aquired a 1985 fb. Getting it from my brother who got it from my best friend. Few years ago the 12a died. We swapped it with the 12a out of his 1979 sa. Had about 70,000 miles on that moter. Ran good but carb started giving him fits. My brother bought it and had the carb redone. but the gas tank was leaking. He repaired the tank but never put it in. Im bringing it back to life. I found good posts on here on bringing a long stored wankel to life. It should fire up except for carb it was running great until parked.
I do have a very important question for you all. I want to redo this motor or another rebuild installed at tax time. With 12a housings no longer available what is my best option in the $5000 ish price range? 12a with a street port and lighter flywheel to go with the racing beat full exguast system that is all ready on the car is what I would like. But What is the best long term option? I have hundreds of hours in this car. I even drove it home on my wedding night. I will not be getting rid of it.

hey pal good on you. personally i would just put a late model 13b into it its fairly easily done. they have plenty of parts available for them and you can use the carby, gearbox , the whole lot, it just means the 13b is 10mm longer than the 12a so not much mods to be done and well within the 5000 mark
