howdy all



live in georgia, robins afb. bought my 1990 fc n/a for 2500bux about a week ago. tryin to find a place to fix its problems. here goes:



sometimes will not start, have to turn key several times to start



will idle fine after starting for about 30 seconds, then it goes low and revs itself over and over until its warmed up or so



smog pump bracket is broken so smog pump is off of the engine



check engine light is on until i give it some gas, then it goes away, until i let off gas



the guy i bought it from told me that he had put in a new/refurb ported engine about 40k miles ago, i have no idea if its true or not, the odo shows about 160k



old owner put on a cat-back exhaust, some junk that is loud as all hell



engine runs for a couple of seconds then chokes itself out when i turn off the key



i will get some better pics when i get back from tdy. thanx for whatever help you can give me!



(paint job is crap, no sanding off old paint, they just painted over it. nice rims/tires from a 2006 mazda 6 though)

Scott from Indiana. I have a 79 rx. It was handed down to me from my uncle who ordered it in 78. He has a fiat now, and wanted to keep the rx in the fam.

I am a teacher. I am really looking forward to adding new wheels to my 7. I have looked all over the internet, but haven't found anything I like. Just purchased a Racing Beat suspension package. I am getting ready to have that put on. In the future I am going to get a new carb.

If you have any ideas on wheels, let me know. I would prefer black wheels since the car is white with black trim.

 

Hi, I'm from Long Beach, California. Lets see I currently own two 7's, one 1986 n/a non turbo first base model and a 1987 Turbo. Back in about june 2006 I had a 1986 toyota tercel hatch back in soso running condition and a 1996 geo metro. I had been looking for something with a bit more power so i came across some guy online selling his 1987 rx7 turbo who also was willing to trade. So I took a chance and ended up trading my 1986 toyota tercel for the 1987 turbo rx7. The only catch was that the car had just been kept sitting in the back yard for about 7 years so tha car was not running. Well I guess it was fair trade I tried selling the tercel and was realy getting nothing for it. Any ways the car it self was I think worth much more than my tercel and great project for me. The interior is in exceptional condition no cracks or missing parts on the dash the seats and carpet very clean asside from all the dust from sitting for years and the body some dings here and there only on the bottom edges of car nothing major. So I had it towed to my house. It sat for a couple of more months while I saved up some money and came across some more good deals. Well after about 8months I found a guy who sold me clean working long block, complete tranny, gas tank and lambo door kit for $900 all and now will have all put in at lucky7 down in el monte labor will about $900....I' ve been told that since it has been sitting for long time that it has accumulated some rust were not quite sure. If any one out there knows about any problems I might run into or any sugestions I'd realy appreciate the info thanks.



P.S In regards to my 1986 n/a non turbo I bought that one about 3 months to ago just so I can have something to drive while I fix the Turbo. Its alright drives great just shakes/ vibrates a little when I hit the gas and some of the break lights dont ligth up or the dash gages. It has a new alternator and master cylinder slave clucth. I have just recently put it up for sale in the auto trader, since I'm goin to be fixing the my turbo now. If any one is intrested let me know.

 

I've been posting here for a while but never really ventured over to this part of the forum. Anyway, I live in San Antonio TX and slowly trying to get things done on my rx. Hopefully I'll be able to get a daily driver soon so that I can stop putting so many miles in it.

I just got back from a year in Iraq (there's me and my little mule).



Now my 94 isn't running. Grrr! It's about time to part with her anyway. She's my third RX-7 ('80&'85 before) and the best one. I'm the first owner and have put about 125K on the odometer. But the problems have caught up, big coolant leak, oil leak, sun roof needs a push, and, now, of course, battery's dead and the tires are flat. Groan!



Any recommendations? How much is fixing her up for sale gonna cost?

I need an engine for it, but tonight I'm heading over to his place to cut a bunch of wires and other stuff out of the car. Yay weight reduction!

I had an fd quite a few years ago an it was a pure pile of junk. I think it had been under water.. had too many electrical problems. Friend of mine wanted it, problems and all, so I made him the new owner.

 

hi everybody! im kinda new to this site but i hang out on rx7club a lot. my name is raven and i live in stockton california. i have 2 s2 rx7s. one is an 82 S and the other is an 83 GS. each one only ran me $300 but the 82 was run in to the ground when i got it at only 148k miles dowel pin leak on the front rotor housing...... the 83 i bought from a friend and it just needed a tune up but i flooded it and thought it was dead so i got the 82 as a temp replacement and stored the 83. shortly after i figured out how to fix it and now im just waiting for the money to do the tune up and change all of the fluids.



the 82 is my first true project car and i plan to build it as a street legal autox car until i have to confidence and skill for circut and/or drift. ( yes i know.....another wannabe drifter, but at least im building skill first and keeping it off the streets) im always down to meet new people and im always down to try and help people out so feel free to PM me and pick my brains or ask for help if you are in the area.

 

ey, im Ty, i now live in ohio.

i lived in florida for 8 years.

i drive a 1990 mitsubishi turbo eclipse gs.

i run about 12 pounds of boost.

ive only got it to about 135mph, but it had more.

its in my garage right now, with the engine bay half empty.

im doing a full head swap.

i love my car, but i would sell it, the first chance i had for a 3rd gen rx7.

i would consider myself a newbie when it comes to mazdas, and the rotary wankel engines.

i just started reading about them, and i think they are amazing.

if i never come around to getting one, (lets hope otherwise) id want to put a rotary in like, a honda civic, or crx or something.

but i have not heard of it being done.
