sweet, my haynes manual got here today! maybe now ill know what you guys are talking about haha.
no belt indeed, the a/c pulleys both turn with just finger pressure so i guess i just need a new belt. the smog pump bracket broke so ima try to hit the junkyard where i know theres a 91 fc vert (only rx-7 in the yards for at least 2 hours) so i can see if its the same bracket. maybe thats why my gas mileage is ****!

Gas mileage is generally bad on these cars. I get 15 city, 25 highway (80 mph, 5th gear).
im at half a tank with 98 miles.
