So I just recently got my RX-2 back on the road after about 10 months in my garage. I've been cruisin the area for about a week trying to break my motor in properly. Needless to say I have been challenged on several occasions by rice boys and V8 alike. Somehow, the whole time I managed to contain myself. Just cruisin under 4,000rpm's and watchin my oil pressure and coolant temperature gauges like Monica Belluccis' in them. I need to put 1000 miles on the engine before I get into the revs. I rebuilt this 85 13B myself and I wasn't going to spin a seal for some rice boy with a warranty..............or was I. =)
So I am driving on Rte.40 minding my business, hand out the window, when I hear what sounds like a R1 coming up fast. I check my rearview and notice blue headlights approaching fast.........I wait. The car approaches me at about 90mph, waits till the last second, then swirves into the second lane of this 2 lane stretch of road. Im pissed now.................my car is too rare to be mistakenly hit by some punk with a new car trying to show off. I couldn't replace my taillights if I wanted to. I flip him off and keep cruising trying to fight off the road rage that I want to have!
Now he's aproxx. 1/4 of mile in front of me and I really want revenge! A quik check of my trip odometer reads 950 miles.........................close enough, revvin time. I choose third gear, slam the right pedal, and chirp the tires in my quest for redemption. I think he see my pursuit and lets off his gas, bad move. I know what he's thinking: what does this historic tag wearing, primer gray, piece of **** think it's racing? If he only knew his cars. Once a path clears he downshifts and his 5 inch exhaust tip lets out the sound of rice. I comply and do the same. At about 4k my 6ports start breathing and I let up so I won't be in his back seat. I check the fast lane......cars there - damn, so i stay behind the RSX on his *** like a cavity search. At about 90mph the lane clears and I pull along him as my exhuast ports scream the sound only rotary can make. I shift to 4th and pull about 2 cars then back off.........ahhhhh that felt so good. At the next light the Rsx pulls next to me, rolls down his tinted windows and sticks his thumb up. Respect given. He revs his engine but I am not in the mood for a smokey one tire burnout so when the light turns green I pull off slow.
