Googes, sidewinderx7 means well with his advice about launching and shifting I'm sure, but I wouldn't follow it. You'll most likely get a better launch at about 3400 to 3700 rpm. Also I wouldn't quick/power shift like that until you get used to the car. If you do so without experience you will most likely grind the **** out of your gears. One more point, the TII redline is 8000 rpm and if you shift at that point you will be way past your power band. If I were you I would try shifting at about 6000 rpm. If you do that you will finish your shift at about 6500 rpm and will still be in your power ban for the next gear. I'm sorry sidewinderx7 that I don't agree with your shifting and launching points. You more than likely have more mods than Googes or I. These mods must allow you to do these things and get extremely good results, his car and my car just don't react well to them.

i've asked several shops and pro-rx7 owners, and racers. everyone has said to shift at about 7-7.5k rpm's i usually shifted at 7.5K both drag racing and auto-X. and remember shift with your wrist, not your arm. What ever you though, don't bounce it off the rev limiter which in some TII's is about 8-8.1K or so. I think the 92 had the highest redline of all TII's.

Launch point will vary drastically on the ground condition. On the trac, with drag radials i launched at 4K sometimes 4.3. On the street though sometimes it was as low as 2.5K (automation in Abilene TX)

You be careful, as the owner of a '89 MX6 GT, I can tell you with proper mods that car is a real sleeper. Stock the car is 180 HP. With exhaust, intake, remapped EMU and beefy injectors it can easily be a 225-240 HP car. At a point in time I was able to dust V8s rather regularly both on the street and the track, and that on street gas! I can offer this advise: they are more effective at a rolling start then they are at the hole shot ; so check this guy out before you lay down your $$$ :smirk:
