i was driving home last night from a friends house in my new 06 mx5, trying to get someone to race me. when i was getting on the interstate, there were two fc's behind me, one vert and my buddy in his coupe. the guy in the vert decided he wanted to pass us on the onramp, so i let him pass, but kept on his bumper. by the time we got on the interstate, we were going about 75 - 80mph. the three of us raced for about 5 miles, running about 110 the whole time, swerving through traffic, and i somehow managed to get in front of the vert, and i stayed in front of him until i got off. he followed me off the interstate to a gas station, and he couldn't figure out how i outran him. apparently, he had just bought the car, but not looked over it, and he was told it had a turbo, streetport, and nitrous. i opened the hood, and it had a completely stock n/a 13B. he was pissed, but i walked away wondering how anyone can buy a car thinking it has a ton of performance parts, and not even pop the hood to check what it has. i know it isnt much, but its my first kill in my new car, so i thought id share.

 

Racing through interstate traffic isn't the smartest idea. I can see a new Miata MX-5 whooping a vert though...



As for those 'performance' parts? Okay..what, does the Nitrous fire itself? Does the Turbo have no boost guage? The dude is blonde, I take it... He could sue the person who sold him the car, truthfully. False advertising to the max...though, he should have looked to see if the dude was telling the truth.



Then again...I never popped the hood on my first GXL. All it took was that sweet, sweet exhaust note, the HUGE tachometer...the pop up lights and the dash to make me sign on the dotted line. I never once popped the hood. Not exactly the smartest thing on an FC. But you learn from your mistakes. He probably just got really excited (because the FC IS a cool car) and wasn't thinking. It happens to anyone.



Anyways...at least you have some sort of kill under your MX-5's belt now.

 

actually, he WAS blonde. i never popped the hood on my first fc either, but i didnt care what it had. i had a new 20b waiting for it at home. but i did pop the hood on the fc i still have, and my fd.
