I was wondering how much skylines cost in Japan? R32's.. R33's.. R34's.. I'm not really sure what types there are.. And what's the best engine.. the RB26DETT, RB25DETT, or the RB30DETT? How much does it cost to get one shipped to the USA plus other papers and **** that have to be filled out? Are skylines even worth it? thanks alot

Eric

djgiantrobot 05-17-2003 01:46 AM

there is not such thing as a rb25dett and an Rb30 turbo you have to make at alot of expense cuz the rb30 was only sold in australia and was not turbo.

1bad180sx 05-17-2003 04:01 AM

The best is the RB26DETT of course.

Who knows how much it costs for you guys.... we live in japan.

Rutt 05-17-2003 10:19 AM

SOHC RB30's were sold in gasoline Nissan trucks here in Japan also. When an RB26DETT head is mated to an RB30 block it becomes an RB30DETT. OS Giken also sells a deck riser that turns an RB26 into an RB30 if you add the correct parts. "TT" = Twin turbo so only the RB26DETT and VG30DETT get that monicker from the factory. If you know the right people in Japan you can score R32 GTR engine/tranny/drivetrain parts for chump change. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif

rx7machine 05-17-2003 04:24 PM

Oh my fault, I thought there was a RB25 engine.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif So, none of you guys could score me one for cheap? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Perferably a R33 GTR with the RB26DETT. Definately the twin turbo model.. What year models came with the VG30DETT? See I want something to drive around in.. but has some power and can seat four.. but I'd rather have the 2 door model.. I've thought about buying a 300ZX (maybe the 2+2 model) and putting a RB26DETT engine in it.. just for kicks..

Jerk_Racer 05-18-2003 05:31 AM

You're getting hung up on the nuances of Nissan's engine naming conventions. There are no RB25DETT's. But in the RB engine family there are some called RB25DE and RB25DET. All the letters on the righthand side of the engine designation mean something. Adding one too many "T"'s or adding/omitting other letters will cause confusion. If you want good answers, ask good questions. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Dragon 05-18-2003 06:18 AM

Just buy your self a WRX, skylines suck and when you break engine parts where are you going to get replacment ones? or when sombody side swipes your fender where are you going to find one? etc.. If you want a nissan you'd be better off picking up a 240sx and converting it to a SR20....

JT-Imports 05-18-2003 06:58 AM

I like the R34 personally, but would never buy it due to it being $$$$

WHY???? Would you pick a R33, Ive talked to over 50 or so people in the states that are into skylines and also everyone says they are cool.

They are PUTRID..... Is it because it was in Fast and Furious?

Ranzo 05-19-2003 01:43 AM

Skylines are like 300z's ..they have lots of good parts in them but the total package is pretty useless.

Nissan in General is pretty weak as far as structure and quality design. It appears that you already have a FD....what more could you want??

If you must have a RB then I would take the RB25........the 26 is a 4wd config which makes everything difficult. The RB20 is weak dick as hell.....you would hate it. The RB25 has the best flowing heads of all the RBs and the blocks are all the same........so The RB 25 wins for ease of installation and cheapest to make and abundance of power on. You can pick one up in japan for all different prices you just gotta shop around. I could get one for cheap but most people pay on average about 1500 to 2000 dollars.

rx7machine 05-19-2003 08:14 AM

Sorry guys.. I didn't know all the nissan engine names and ****.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif anyways.. my FD has everything I need when it comes to performance.. but I was wanting a car that I could daily drive and not care too much about, but still have the power I want.. so, that's why I thought about the skyline.. I mean, if I can get a skyline for 1500-$2K.. why not get one? Plus, the AWD factor may help in bad weather conditions.. That's why if I got a skyline.. I would definately get a AWD model.. As for the parts thing.. yea, that does make a problem.. but are these vehicles very pron to breaking and ****?

rbrtech 05-19-2003 08:35 AM

Yes and you will never get a skyline in the US on the the for 2gs. Pipe dreams buddy. The gtr being the most exspensive at that. When japan my wife paid 2 grand for a r32 (91 skyline) gts-t turbo but not twin or awd. Chris is right go subaru wrx or you can buy my 91 300z 2+2 N/A with a blown motor foor 2,500

i totally agree.

the 32 has a classic look that sets it apart from other cars and the 34 is just amazing i think.

the 33 on the other hand is hideous. i saw one in person for the first time at englishtown a few weeks ago and i was disgusted. granted the performance potential of the car is HUGE but the actual look of the car is nothing. i would rather have an FC over an R33 any day.

If a R32 turbo rwd cost $2K.. then how much would R33 turbo (twin or single) with awd cost? The prices from the GTR site.. how accurate are they?

rbrtech 05-19-2003 10:05 AM

the most because they are the only ones shipping them in the only

models are gts-t-single turbo rwd

gts- na rwd

gtr- twin turbo awd

rx7machine 05-19-2003 10:16 AM

Is there a GTR R32 model available?

Jerk_Racer 05-19-2003 11:37 AM

Dragon 05-19-2003 04:11 PM

WHY IN THE **** are we talking about POS skylines on the RX7 site.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png grrrrrrr!!!!!

For the price of a Skyline GT-R imported to the states you could go out and buy a brand new RX-8, if you want 4 wheel drive then get a truck or a WR-X... Why pay 40-50k for a stock pos car when you could spend the same amount and get a new car that would distroy it in performance, quality and comfort..

Dragon 05-19-2003 04:14 PM

O' and notice the tuned (supposedly 700-800 hp) GT-R getting whooped by me in my sig...

rbrtech 05-19-2003 04:20 PM

nice kill chris

craigny1 05-19-2003 04:38 PM

I have to agree to have one imported to the states is costly. The SKYLINE is far from a POS. not my taste and as far as Im concerned no where near as good looking as the RX7 But it is far from a POS Just depends on what your into and what you like. As far as performance they rip and drive like there on train tracks. Check out my buddies at Drivinhard.com you can also see a pic of 93 7. Will be more up soon............

Thanks,

Ummm.. 9 years living in Japan.... They are Junk, big heavy peices of gay pride, They are O' O' "look at my skline, it's so cooooool!" It is a brand name, nothing more. They aren't worth what we can get them for here used |cheap| and they certinly arn't worth what it cost to ship them back threw MOTORX to get it in to the states..

Or maybe I'm just slightly biased from having ridden in and raced a **** load of them.

rx7machine 05-20-2003 07:38 AM

Damn.. well, trust me.... I'm not trying to say I like skylines more than I like RX-7's.. hell, I would kill for my FD! The only reason I thought about getting one was because I heard someone say you could get one for like $3K.. that doesn't sound like a bad price at all.. but hell, looking at the motorex site.. the prices they have up are a little much.. Oh yea, I have noticed your GTR kill. Good job. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

rbrtech 05-20-2003 07:46 AM

if you find a skyline in the states for 3 grand get it

rx7machine 05-20-2003 08:30 AM

if you find a skyline in the states for 3 grand get it
Well.. I'm sure I won't find one in the states, but I mean.. in Japan. How much are the cost to get it to the US and registered and all that junk?

rbrtech 05-20-2003 08:35 AM

about the same as motorex

rx7machine 05-20-2003 10:45 AM

about the same as motorex
Oh well.. screw that ****..

Midnightdriver 05-20-2003 06:09 PM

Getting a skyline in the us for cheep isn't going to happen but you can pick one up in jpn pretty cheap.. I got my gtr for 3k tuned...so lucky...hahah motorex will legalize one you find there but you pay shipping and the fee to legalize it around 15k. thats a lot of cash...now the gt-s has the rb25det...the gtr has the rb26dett the 26 is 2.6L now you can get a rb30 or 28 they are stroker kits by JUN and SIGNAL AUTO very expensive.. or I know of a R-33 v-spec for sale around 25k...already tuned..something like 400+ to the wheels. and a very sexy purple with bbs wheels... and the people who think the skyline is junk well just drive one..and you will see.

Dragon 05-21-2003 06:43 AM

Driven a **** load of them... Worked on a few of them, and just put a T45S kit on one recently... there all junk... I'd buy a 180sx with a SR20 or a S15 over a Skyline anyday if I was going to drive a Nissan

rbrtech 05-21-2003 07:10 AM

wrong forum to say just drive one most people who were or are stationed in japan have https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif

JT-Imports 05-21-2003 07:10 AM

I have some inside info on importing CARS, but im not sure of it being legal exactly, kind of shady, but I have heard of it working.. It will bypass a lot of BS too.. Because of it being shady please PM or E-mail me

Jerk_Racer 05-21-2003 03:37 PM

The GT-R is just that. It's a GT car. Grand Touring (in English at least) with a little something extra. They put comfort over sportiness. I've never been in a R34, but I can't even remember how many R30's, R31's, R32's, and R33's I've been in. From bone stock to highly modded. They are big, comfortable family cars at heart. The newer the model the cushier they got.

Here's one you guys in Japan will know about. Last Columbus day when I was on Oki I was riding in Doug's R33 GT-R (I got dumped on him because some "friend" of mine with a certain white 180SX kicked me out the car for some ho he was trying to score with but's that's another rant for another time). Going down south on 58 at Mizugama Igy pulled up besides us. Both of them went for it. Igy left us like we were standing still. Doug stopped after a second because there was no point after that. From what I'm told, this GT-R has somewhere around 500hp to 550hp. I don't know how valid that claim is, but even if it's true then that car is still carrying around a lot of weight. It might not have been as fast, but it was quieter (all cars are quieter than Igy's https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR ), had a good ride (it has Aragosta shakocho IIRC), good stereo, and strong A/C. It's a great car to impress chicks with. This car has a high panty dropping quotient. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.png Piece of junk? I wouldn't say so. But it's not the best car for messing around on the streets with. But's it's no slouch either compared to a lot of other cars. They just take a lot more money to get the same results.
