I'd buy a 180sx with a SR20 or a S15 over a Skyline anyday if I was going to drive a Nissan

S15 = https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif

I never thought much of their looks until I saw one in person back in 2000. Love at first sight. Damn Nissan of America. Even if they kept on using the KA24DE in this chassis it would've sold very well. Much nicer looking car compared to the S14.

I may not be the fastest GT-R in Okinawa (not even close) But I Have never had the pleasure of Racing Dragon either. I thought I would help educate though on the SKyline engine code for the unknowing.

RB, SR, VG, FJ = Engine Series

20,25,26 = liters of displacement

D = Dual overhead Cam

E = Electronic Fuel injection

T = single turbo

TT = twin turbo

If an engine code is missing one of these items in its series it means it does not have it

For example

RB25DE = RB series engine, 2.5 liters of displacement, dual overhead cam, Fuel injection (no turbo)

VG30DETT = VG series engine, 3.0 liters of displacement, dual overhead cam, Fuel injection, twin turbo

Now the reason I am on this site and talking about Skylines is that I Currently own one, and know a few of the board members in here. And I will be purchasing a RX-7 Stateside due to the extreme cost of importation, and maintenance of a Skyline in the US. They are fun, a blast to drive, and have room for four in a pinch, but I have yet to see a RB26DETT rev to 15,000 RPM or shoot a 4 ft flame on a shift (2-3ft a few times :P) I will give "The Shop" and its rotaries the props where they deserve. Although the locals are really putting the screws to us on Okinawa with all the restrictions they are placing on the cars entering the local drags.

My favorite quote:

Dragon: You have been here long enough, and you have been down at "The shop" alot, why didn't you ever go with a Rotary?"

TheCamel: Uuuhh lets see, maybe the 5 vehicles here that have the hoods up and are not running (at the time) *Iggy, Scott, Beau, Jerry, Chris)

Nothing like a little friendly rivalry But I will say this, does not matter how it happens, these guys have always been there for everybody.

Hey The Camel, nice to see you on the net... its been a long time.

I may not drive a rotary, but I am part of The Shop. I have to give credit where credit is due... my favorite type of car to race is GT-R's. Seriously. You never know what you're going to get. I spank a lot of them, but then sometimes one just stomps a mudhole in my ass. It always gets pumped up... and thats what makes racing exciting.

When we went out for this drag meet and they grouped all the americans together, that was pretty weak. We ended up with nothing but friends racing friends, and no suprises. Luckily I had some nice competition in the SR/CA Class. But they still grouped the americans together. (there were only two of us)

It's too bad really, because a lot of those guys in my class probably didn't even know I beat them. Oh well... Dry Hopp on June 15th. They're always a lot more fun.

That's why we've gotta show up with 40+ fast ass cars next time... **** the bullshit... We'll just over take the whole god damn drag race event...

Dang, you guys are brutalizing Justin https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

This is the same thing they do while he's standing in front of them... nothing new. It just sounds harsh when written.

I'd own a skyline...just I can drive something in the Rain with A/C. I agree with Dragon though...if I HAD to own a Nissan...it'd be SR20det powered BEAST....

Munki4ce 06-06-2003 05:19 AM

CA > RB20 and RB25..... What does that tell ya?

But you probably dont know what a CA is if you actually asked "What year Skyline came with the VG30DETT"........ https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png

If you already own an FD the best thing for you to do is tune that thing and forget about crappy skylines.

BTW- R33 owns R32..... sorry https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif
