I went to Nagoya in 89-90... boring as ****.. lot's of really boring people.. kinda like Bible thumper territory in the USA.. and cold as **** during the winter, but near Nagano if you like to Ski... They have a lot of earth quakes around there also.

Kobe is full of Yakuza.. but probably a lot of fun... but lots of bigger earth quakes..

and I don't know where the hell Nara is...

Why don't you try to come to Okinawa.. you'd love it here and you could hang out with us.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Is Nagoya really that bad? I talked to a couple of Japanese people about it, and they said that they really liked it. Plus it's like the 4th biggest city in Japan.

Anyway, Okinawa seems nice, but I want to live on Honshu so I can see as much of Japan as possible while I'm there. You know, like take a train to Kyoto or Osaka or someplace on the weekends and stuff.

But I'd love to come visit you guys on Okinawa if I go, and check out all your cars and the scene down there. How much does it cost to travel between the mainland to Oki and how long does it take?

It's a 2 hr flight that runs around 20-30,000 yen depending on the time of year (tourist season = expensive), If you but the tickets well in advance it's much cheaper... Just let us know when your comming in advance so we can try to find a place for you to stay..

"JET" is the Japan Exange Teaching program.

Basically, you teach English to middle or high school students in Japan. Anyone with a Bachelor's degree is eligible. The pay is pretty good, and the work isn't very difficult, so it's a good way to see and experience Japan.

If I have that job, I'd sex up the hot student chics in their uniforms. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif :bigthumg:

Good luck dude, I also applied for the JET program next year. I had to apply for the ALT position because I only have like 1 year of Japanese under my belt and I have forgotten most of it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png But the ALT is cool. I spent a few weeks in Japan a few years back and met up with some JET people in Iwakuni. They were all very cool and had different opinions about the program. All of them generaly enjoyed it though and were having a good time. Maybe we will both get accepted and a be two wild and crazy gaijins.

Speaking of Nagoya, here is a funny music video about Nagoya I found:

It's all in Japanese, so it might not be very funny if you don't understand Japanese.

"Tokyo ha maa akan!

Nagoya ga shuyaku!"
