Best City In Japan To Live In?
#1
Hey, I'm just about to send in my JET application, and I haven't decided what cities I'm going to request... so if you've lived in Japan, what city do you think is best and why?
The kind of things I'm looking for:
- medium-sized city on mainland - not crazy crowded like Tokyo, but not the bfe either
- lots fun things to see/do (places to party, good resturants, and touristy stuff)
- lots of hot girls
- not overrun with foreigners (like not by a military base or anything)
- fairly close to some other major cities

fukuoka was great. i just got back from a tdy with the airforce there. the night life rocks, the chicks are as easy to pick up as a handgun in harlem, and the cars there are bad ******* *** too. i would love to go there and spend more time. to top it off the girls love americans. if your into raves and **** goto a club called Q's on sat night they have two clubs, bottom floor is rave and trance, top floor is house and acid jazz. also the crazy **** was pretty cool too. there are no military bases around there. i think that the navy is like an hour and a half away. i got to goto a small town called Tsuki for a joint military exercise with the JASDAF. it was a lot of fun. well im out and good luck, even though it sounds like you dont want the competation of the military( getting girls).

Thanks for the responses so far...
What do you guys think of Kobe or Nagoya? I was reasearching this for a little while last night and both of these cities seemed pretty good...
Also, it seems like places like Saitama or Kanagawa are just bedroom communities of Tokyo and therefore not very fun or interesting, is this generally true?

Basically, you teach English to middle or high school students in Japan. Anyone with a Bachelor's degree is eligible. The pay is pretty good, and the work isn't very difficult, so it's a good way to see and experience Japan.

"JET" is the Japan Exange Teaching program.
