his question was answered- let the shop do it and trust them, if he

doesnt trust the shop to do it he should take the car someplace else.

we are telling people who have no expierence not to

sand the lights and polish them on thier own, to have someone

do it or show them how.

if someone came into my job TELLING me how to do something, I

would just tell them I would rather not do the job at all.

I did detailing and had my own shop, I chose to get out of it

because of cheap asses and cut throats in the biz charging ****

money and doing **** work. I chose to go into a profession that

had a solid foundation for quality work.

So I know the detailing end and I know the painting/refinishing end,

I speak from many years of hands on expierence

Most of the run of the mill shops out here mask the tails off, and all the plactics for that matter, probabaly from the affore mentioned reasons of inexperience.

The upscale shops that do exotics and what not have no troubles at all, although I have seen a set of tails from a Jaguar that were way messed up, and ended up being lightly sanded and shot w/ clear, not the best remedy, but it seemed to work well.

The makeup of the lens would seem to dictate how well the clear held up. I would imagine it isn't a good idea to clear over features in the lens so applying clear without bridging gaps could promote checking of the clear @ all the edges due to vibration and so on.

Obviously the best choice...however,

My co-worker messed up the lenses and couldn't afford the cost of new, so he called in a favor to a friend..as I notified the owner of the shop AFTER the car left, we were both let go, the co-worker with no reference, myself referred, with a different job in the business.
