Depending on how bad they are you can polish them. You can do it your self or for better results take them to a profesional detailer. Dont waist money on store bought stuff(mothers). If you can get it, buy the 3M plastic polish. Its a professional grade and gets out all small scratches and brings back the luster to old hard plastic. Like i said though if you want best results, take them to a detailing shop. Hand them over and they will give them back like new.

Just thought I'd pop in here to show what can be done. Tom Yang did these for his classic ferrari, using a plastic polishing wheel: (before and after)

if your taking the car to a body shop and you have to tell

them how to polish the lights then go to a different shop

dont tell them how to do thier job, there are so many different ways

to polish plastic it all depends on the application.

wow i think my tail lights need that polishing stuff

boxrs4sale 03-04-2004 09:29 PM

im thinking you could use a light compound and buff it off with a wool pad or foam pad.

when i detailed cars for several years, some of my friends did that... worked like above

i wouldnt use compound on plastic lenses, no need and you

run the risk of burning them, use a polish

FikseRxSeven 03-04-2004 09:57 PM

any product names?

Rob x-7 03-04-2004 10:02 PM

almost any glaze would work, anything in the 3m perfect it

or finesse-it family. If you need a little extra then try some 2000

grit wet paper then the glaze, sure you might be able to cut the ****

out of them with coarse paper and compounds, but you may also

end up ******* them up, and once they are fucked, they are done.

so have patience and use glaze and some effort
