Thats sad!! What company did he ship it through? I have tried sending pacakges through FedEx and they wouldn't let me a few times because they said it wasnt packaged enough....

 

I don't know what the proper action is to take but damnit someone has to pay for that ****, I'd be going postal in your shoes. I've personally driven up to a few states away to deliver items I didnt trust to be shipped / handled by a third party, so what I'm looking at in this thread is quite unbelievable for me. Definitely not quality.





Can we get the name of the 3rd party just in case we encounter them as a possible service provider in the future?

 

i don't know the shipping company who you used or who it was wrapped by. but i have recently gotten a job and ups and from my month of experience i can tell you that things the size and weight of a hood like that can seriously be damaged in the process of being shipped. ups uses conveyor belts to feed packages to the trailers and many many many times the belts get jammed up because of the high flow of packages coming through. i'm not saying that you hood was shipped this way but when you see how fucked up packages can get from those damn belts, it reminds me to package things well to insure that they don't become damaged.

 

funny thing is aftermarket hoods come with thick *** rubber blocks to

protect the corners and the hood latch.



Most shops save the blocks for when they have to sit

hoods on the ground etc..



not that your hood is aftermarket, but the box he shipped it in is from

one, you would think they would have used some of those snazzy

rubber blocks.



I would send the hood back and let him deal with insurance money from

the shipper. Not too mention that hood looks like its already been repainted before anyhow.

This is a mistake (not on my part) that is being addressed currently.



The shipper was Airborne express (never used them before and never will again, they're the only person who would ship the hood that big)..



The "third party shipper" was an auto body shop who was doing me a favor by packing and shipping it (I had sold the hood locally, but Dave got confused and sent me the money when i said it was sold.... so i sold it to him...) I never sell anything that big.





Anyway, the insurance claim has been filed and will be filled for $245.00 (the price of the hood). I have sent Dave a claim number and will be receiving a packet early next week. If they don't resolve this soon, I'll refund him every penny.





This is a first for me (for shipping something so big and a "damage in transit" experience... Check my feedback under ebay. (advanceproduct). 68, 100% positive points.



I belive I have been cooperative in trying to help in contacting the shipped and I will resolve it. You have no reason to believe I won't, as I have contacted you and never have had a negative experience before.



I will let you know as soon as I hear from the shippers. Ideally, you will have the hood and $245.00 for the trouble (should be more than adequate to fix it, or buy a new hood).

Glad to see this had been done prefessionally Robert and Dave. That's pretty awesome.

 

Robert I sincerly appreciate the effort you have put into helping me on this. I have nothing but respect for a guy who handles himself this well. Especialy under the circumstances, with me not being the intended buyer and all. I also understand fully what a hassle it is to ship something that size. Hopefully I will get a check for the damage and I can get the hood looking good enough to fly. Wish me luck.

I'd hate that happening to me, get it fixed Dave.

 

If I take it to get painted its roughly $400 not counting the labor rates for body work.

My guess is somewhere in the neghborhood of $600 total give or take $100.
