I went with JBL components up front and mounted the tweeters on the dash aiming toward me slightly upward. If you go with standard coax's up front, the imaging is horrible because the highs just absorb into your leg.... In the rear shock towers, I have 6x3/4" Polk's. The Polk's were cheap at Crutchfield (last year's EX model) and sound great.

I don't think they are 5's in the dash as I recall, and I think the door is 6 inch.

I mounted 5's in my door and 6's in my rear hatch (you don't have that option). But I SWEAR by Infinity Kappa series speakers, they are well worth the money and have great range.

I agree, the Kappas are outstanding. They handle a lot of power and sound great with a clean amp too. I used to use nothing but Kappa's and MB quarts in other cars...

How much are you spending seppuku?

The drivers under the dash are closer to 4", they are in a shitty spot to really utilize. The headrest drivers are a joke as well, if you have to run them i'd push them w/ deck power. The stock hole in the door allows for a 5.25", but can be easily manipulated to accomodate a 6.5". You could run a 2-way driver, or run a mid driver, and mount the hi's @ a level more suiting, higer on the panel. A mid driver installed in the panel will perform better if the door pocket is modified, instead of putting the sound INTO the door pocket. A cameleon head unit, Infinity, in the doors, MB quart hi's between the vents and the door handles, and I stuffed 2 12" JLW6 behind the seats, and two soundstream amps. All that sub kinda ate my mid up so im adapting currently.

I have had Infinity speakers in almost every car I have owned, never dissapoint, the Kappa series is thier top of the line. You could also surface mount a tweeter on the plastic cover for the mirrors, I would not modify the door panel of a convertible in ANY way personally-good luck ever finding replacements. Those plastic mirror covers are easy to find, and you can run the wire up the door panel, then up by the mirror, the drill a small hole and run the wire thru the cover. By the way- If your going to do exaust, and have the top down, dont bother with the stereo, lol.
