which alpine amp are you using? i have a mrd-500 (500 watts, also available in a 300 if thats what kind of power you want) in my daily driver. Its a sweet digital amp. i have it running a rockford hx2 8" sub at 2 omhs and somes awesome. my word of advice on this subject: pay more attention to the amp than the sub. an amp that puts out alot of high quality power can make a lower quality sub hit harder and sound better than an amp of lower quality on a kick *** sub.

I disagree a little bit.... Speakers are the weakest link.. Great speakers will make shitty equipment sound good, great equipment and shitty speakers just sound like ***... Have you already purchased your stereo yet? But then again I'm only planning on running one JL 10 or 12W7 and a class D amp to push it.. and that'll be all I need

 

speakers are very important. but if you didnt have the money for your w7 and a class d amp how would you split your money??? id personally keep the amp and go to a w6 or w3. if moneys no object why not have the best of everything right?
