why dont you use those magnetic openers for some closet doors where you press it and it pops out enough for you to open it, and when you press it down again, it stays down

You know, I actually thought about that... But there is no hinge, so it wouldnt really work. I made the lids fit pretty snug; so I just needed a way to pop them open...



As if I ever really use the damn things... lol

I was thinking some sort of swing arm up under the dash, but space is probably way too limited for that.
