hmmmm......... v1 is the way to go

rx7machine 03-28-2003 01:01 AM

But what's best to get a V1 or a radar/laser jammer?

can you use them in conjunction with each other?

We install the k40 kits at work. They have sensors mounted in the front and rear of the car. Never heard of any thing bad about them.

Just a side note, I looked into radar/laser jammers years ago. Check out http://www.k40.com/Dealers/DealerSup...0LASERWARS.PDF also search for info on laser wars. they used to be a yearly laser jammer / radar detector shot out.

Only a few laser jammers really work most a junk. I spent several hours talking to different companies about them. The EPA controls light emitting devises like lasers, and has no laws about emitting them passively. The FCC controls radar and has huge fines and prison time for people who jam radar. Think about it, what would happen if you where jamming radar and drove by and air port.

What??? Dude.. The radar used by the FAA is a *slightly* different frequency than police-band, or civillian-band radar. And you'd have to get caught to go to jail. The cop would have to have a radar detector to sense an active jam, and when he shot his gun, the detector would go nutz. At anyrate, passive jammers are not illegal, but they are ineffective.

As for passive laser jammers, I think that's a total crock. The cross-section of a laser detection beam is extrememly small, and FAST, as compared to radar. By the time the circutry in the jammer has fired the "jamming" signal, the original gun would already have it's readings.

I meant FCC anyway. And I realize you would have to get caught, but all it takes is the cop with the crazy read out on his radar gun to pull you over. I am still pretty sure even passive jammers are illegal if you get caught, unless your jammer has one of the FCC ID codes issued to it.

I agree on the laser jammers, some work from the test but I don't think they would work 100% of the time. Depending on the car removing you front plate makes the car very hard to shoot. One article I read said the ram air firebird without a front plate was almost impossible to laser from the front. It didn't have any nice flat reflective surfaces to shoot.

hmmm, gives me an ideea.......what if...... you made the front plates a little duller so it wont reflect as well?

mkoch1 03-28-2003 02:27 PM

I have seen clear tag covers that say they help reflect laser back at an upward angle. Similar to the kind that blur your plate for the stop light cameras. The key to laser is they must shoot something that will reflect the narrow laser back to the gun. A flat reflective front plate is a great target for them. Angling your plate like this " \ " (bottom out further than the top) may help, not sure.

well, ill do that anyways...... oh wait...... i have the box thing in front of the 99 spec bumpeers
