you guys really should have done some light sanding. What we used at the bodyshop when I did my wheels was scotch-brite pads. They really get into the metal, and the corners to give a good clean, uniform surface for the paint to adhere to. Since you are in Texas most of the time though you won't have to worry about things like salt and Ice in the winter, so they should last you a while.

Or go to home depot and get some Scothbrite pads, grey should
do the job nicely.
Wash them with some grey scothbrite pads and some Dawn dish detergent,
then rinse well. This will not only clean the wheels of dirt and what not, but it
will etch the rim for paint.

I was looking on a web site at work today and saw a pic of a painted UIM. It got me thinking (I know it's hard but I was looking at pictures and not reading!) I was wondering if anybody here has painted their UIM instead of polishing it. I think gunmetal would look pretty good. I just wonder about the paint holding up with the high temps??? Any ideas???
