I got a 87 NA rx7 and my hood doesnt seem to want to stay down everytime i slam it down i just pops up like if i just pull the lever but any suggestions would be great thanks..

 

First thing to check would be the alignment. Is it exactly right?



Other thing is, if the cable to your hood release binds, sometimes the spring isn't strong enough to return the latch. Easiest way to check this is to pull the release. If it stays out, push it back in, then check to see if the hood stays closed.

 

Yep, I've had that same problem with the hatch and gas door release as well, I have to push it back down for it to latch properly.

 

hood latch is adjustable, and its kinda picky too, if you dont have it right, it will do stuff like that. there is also the outside chance that is broken or something, but thats kinda rare

Is there anything there that might be interfering? I have a car bra on my FC to try to hide the shitty paint and it gets in the way of the latch sometimes.

 

nope nothing was in the way, i got it to go down and lock but now i realize the hood isn't really aligned because when i try to bring the lights up on the driver side the light doesn't fully go up and vice versa.
