i disagree. I don't think you need a SQ amp for your subs. Just somthing that is going to give you the power you need. But it mostly depends on your crossover point. Below 100~80 hz the sound is really not very musical at all, so you don't need a hifi amp. It also depends on the sub. Is it a competition sub for SQ or SPL. If it is For SQ you need a good amp to make it sound good. If it for SPL using a hifi amp is not worth the cost, the sub can only sound so good.

As long as you get a good amp, that can meet the requirments for the component set, you should be good to go.. Too much power can be corrected by keepoing the gain down, but not enough power will make the speakers distort and possibly ruin them..
