they do that on the newer cars cause the guages are all driven by the ecu. on the rx7's the guages are actually hooked up to what they are measureing

fd guages are not like fc's.. i know for a fact that the fd spedo is not mechanical. and i do not believe any others are mechanical. the reason why the sti guages do that trick like the defi ones is because defi makes the sti guages.

Every Dodge car or truck comes with the radio, power windows and locks, alarm and gauge fuse removed from the facotry (one fuse controls all of those). So when you fire up the car, it throws a FUSE code and sweeps ALL needels to their max and back.

It looks pretty cool on the SRT-4, but after a while, it started to **** me off. I'd pop the hood and plug the fuse in as soon as the ******* would come of the delivery truck.

Well, I cant do it on the FC guages. The dampening for the guages is actually built into the guage itself, so even if I apply 24 volts directly to the guage, it still takes a while to react. The FD guages might be different, but I dont have an FD cluster to play around with.

You have to pay out the *** for a Defi-Link system. No way am I paying that much for some gauges!
