visualize a rim and tire bolted on and the skinny end of a baseball
bat where that skateboard wheel looking thing is and you can see
how a bat would work, you jack the car up so the wheel hangs, insert
the skinny end of the bat between the body and tire, then lower the car
slowly on the bat and roll the bat
move it to the thicker part of the bat to get more flare.
the wood wont hurt the paint, but if there is bodyfiller
on there from a previous repair it will pop off or crack
if its been repainted and there is alot of primer/paint it
will crack as well.

Never had this problem, So I'll be teh idiot to ask this question:
When you are "rolling" the fenders...are you rolling that curved end in to prevent rubbing? or rolling it out to be on the outside? (The part thats bend around and inside....
Tucking in or pulling out?

So from a side view, the actual wheel well doesn't go up or look bigger right?
It's just on the inside...that curved body part that physically rubs against the sidewall/top of the tire is rolled in and thinned out....
I wonder, what size tires can you get way with with 18" rims on an FD without having to do that...
