custom sub box
#11
few things:
4 channel amps = not good for subs, you need a d-class/mono-channel amp for subs to be decent.
MDF is the only way to go plywood is gonna fall apart, or if you have powerful subs and a real amp youll literally blow plywood apart.
you dont want to dynomat the inside of the box, its going to absorb the vibrations and the vibrations are what make the bass, somewhat counterproductive, you dynomat everything else, you fill the sub with foam blocks if anything to artificially increase the surface area of the inside of the box.
plexi is far from expensive you can grab a huge piece from home depot for under $20, and thats for the thick ****.
and just as an audiophile comment, for best overall sound you should have aimed the subs at the rear hatch. long and difficult to eplain but its all about bouncing sound waves, its also best to not point regular speakers directly at you, you have to use the construction of the car to your advantage, think about it all those expensive sound systems that come in other cars stock that have years of planning, none of the speakers aim anywhere near you. its all about reverberations.
