Mabye its on polished parts? I read that on the other frum, prob somebody talking out of their ***. . .

 

just keep the brakleen off of the belts.....it will cause them to fray, but that is if you are like me and clean the bay almost everytime you wash the car....

I have cleaned thousands of engines in my time,

Bio-degradable Auto Magic Engine Wash, has a minty smell,

wont stain anything, and works wonders, and a 1100 ( minimum )

pressure washer.

Clean the engine cold, spray that **** EVERYWHERE, pressure wash the

engine then start it right away and let everything dry up, if you

have access to compressed air blow it off while it running to speed things up.



When its all dry, spray it down with silicone spray or some silicone based

tire dressing. If you get the stuff from Auto Magic I would highly suggest some

Magic Dressing.

 

After all of that I used mild rubbing compound on all painted surfaces. Allot of stains and dirt come off easy.

Here’s how it works:







Start preferably in the morning when you engine is very very cold – you want to minimize evaporation.







Open up your engine compartment, and spray Gunk Engine Cleaner everywhere you possibly can. Try shooting it from different angles, standing in different places around the engine compartment.







Let that sit for 15-20 min.







Next, take a garden hose and gently rinse everything off (preferably with a sprinkler attachment) you do not want to use pressure here!







To lock-in the shinyness, use Armorall foaming tire cleaner.





Close the hood, drive the car or run the engine for 30 min or so to evaporate all the water, and when you open the hood, you will not believe your eyes!!!

i have an 85 and i am cleaning all the time by the time i am done i have gotten out the wire bruse to get that little bit of caked on crap it looks pretty good under there to bady the body looks like it came from the junk yard. i have noticed with degreaser if you dont get it all of by the time it dries it is just like you never put any on it in the first place.

 

I agree with TYSON. Getting it done the first time by a professional would be easier and maybe he would let you watch and give you a few pointers. Then it would be easy for you to touch it up every so offen.

A pressure washer is a very bad idea.

I also would not use a leaf blower. Unless it has a very good air filter on it, all you are doing is sucking in the grit from the air and sandblasting your paint. You might not notice it for a long time, but eventually your paint will show the pitting.

One last thing, doesn't the brake cleaner ruin the paint under the hood? I would not spray anything on the inside of the fenders that I wouldn't spray on the rest of the car.

And GUNK sucks, not to mention it smells like insect killer, smells

very bad, you car will stink to high hell like pesticide.
