does anyone have any pics of the back of the bose head unit in a 93fd? also how hard is it to redo the head unit and speakers as I have been told the bose system is no where near universal as using other speakers with it but I thought I would try or I'll just to rip it out.

due to all the problems the Bose system had when i bought my FD, i took out the speakers, headunit, and accoustic wave setup. the Bose speakers have built-in amps, and the wiring and plugs are designed to support that system. that's why the Bose pieces aren't compatible with other companies' products.

you can send what you need repaired to Bose, and they'll do the repairs, but they'll charge you (i have no idea how much, honestly). or you can just pull the whole system and put in an entirely aftermarket setup. i pulled the Bose stuff out but left in the wiring (i'm not going to put in any sound system at all, plus i didn't want to mess with the door wiring harnesses, as all the wiring for each door is in one harness). how you go about it is up to you.

but the short of it is either send the stuff to Bose to get it fixed if you're having issues, or pull the entire system and replace it with an aftermarket system.

i measured the subs from the wave enclosure and i came up with a 6.5 inches. my idea was to get the subs out of a bazooka tube and use them in the stock enclosure and power it with my own amp. their 6.5" subs handle 300 watts RMS and cost about $60 or $70 a piece. as for the head unit, it fried long ago and i just use the preamp outs of an aftermarket one. i was also going to remove the amp for the center and door speakers and use my own when some money came around
