I just took apart a boat that relied on the foam as part of the structure of the hull, because the bond was not there for the foam the hull was compromised, same thing for a frame rail, you can pump all you think you can get in there, if it doesnt bond 100% your wasting your time.



Someone would have to hook up sensors to the frame rails and measure before and after to see if it really worked or not.

 

Well after reading this article years ago I plan to use it on my streetcar build up.

they combined that with a total suspension makeover, how could they ever see the results of the foam alone?

well if the car's quieter thats a plus too.

 

its safe to say that most people who would foam a car are running a silly loud exuast, the sound deading is a useless thing at that point

 

ive been driving a 1990 mercedes 190e and the 91 fc is way louder inside. both cars are stock, theres no point to modding the benz

 

Just strip down the FC, stitch weld the sucker, weld in some bracing as necessary, then put some sound insulation matting down on the big panels. Wouldn't that be easier than some foam stuff?

 

Dunno about easier, but more effective. I dont see how foam can make the frame resist flexing.

But i do know a square tube filled with foam resists collapsing in on itself better than a hollow one. Making it good for some rollover protection.

Im still considering it.
