hey all,

I have a 88 AE and was wondering if anyone replaced the power antennae with a 'stubby'? I only listen to the radio on occasion to get the traffic report going to and coming from work. With a stubby replacement, I can "essentially" not worry about the antennae motor failing or deal with the antennae mast not going up or coming down. I'll lose some radio reception but that's about it. I plan on replacing the head unit and speakers anyway.

My friend has a integra and apparently the S2000 stub is "mod" for those folks, since the integra also has a power antennae. Looks pretty decent but he's got a black car and the antennae is black so that may account for it.

thanks.

I had the same problem with my Tll. In my case i was lucky and found a working one at the wreckers to replace it with. I'm sure the ones you see at PEP boys or whatever your local shop is, will have generic antenas that will work.

yea, i've seen those at pepboys. but it's a replacement. everytime i turn the head unit on ..wrrrrrrrrrrr. everytime i turn it off ..wrrrrrrrrrrr. too bad no one has thought of an aftermarket stick-on-the-window type of antennae. like for hondas, on the inside, it's a little box that looks like it's part of the rear defroster.

there is a $25 r,Mazda OEM repair kit for the stock antennea.

if you run a aftermarket stereo the antennea wont come

up when you play cds, if its a halfway decent head unit anyhow.

I never allow mine to come up.

those pep boys stubby things will look like you were too cheap

to fix it the right way
