More expensive too, atleast over here I think it's that way.

Lol yonner they sold a couple hundred thousand mk2 gti's in the UK - they are good cars though, I have an 8v myself. Wouldn't entirely call them reliable, and any mk2 is still an old car.

my brothers got one too. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=93762

i find it amazing at how everything he's gotta do requires him to be under the car swearing all day. i can build a whole mazda and only have to be under it for like 15-20 minutes max....

ive owned about 6 gti's in my short life. they have their problems but ive never had one break on me that left me stranded. they are so damn easy to work on its just silly. ive replaced axles on the side of the road, driven around for a week with no radiator fan and no water in my radiator and the car still runs... keep in mind these arent things that you would want to do but i treat my vw's like toys. i am always for jumping my car or running it into stuff. well i havent really told you much yet so i will tell you they are cheap to work on. easy to work on. and get good milage. and you can turbo a 16v pretty cheap...

we're gonna turbo my brothers car, i wandered around the yard, and came up with a td05 turbo, fc intercooler, and he bought the 2.0 dohc engine complete, running low miles for $300....
