HA HA I thought you blamed Bush...

It's a stretch no doubt of the current law, eminent domain says that the gov't can take your land away from you if it's for the better of the majority... I guess the argument is that the new business are better for the majority?

Like I said it sucks, but I don't really see what Bush commenting on could add to the equation, people will bitch no matter what he does at this point. If he says something about being against it, then people will be bitching about him being against it and not doing anything about it, if he says he's for it then people will be pissed about him backing a ruling to take their property...

Sometimes it's better to say nothing at all, especially in politics!!!

He should say something towards his party's beliefs on the subject. Someone is going go disagree with him, no doubt, but republicans as a whole are against it, and that is the group that he represents.

This is bullshit that you guys are whining about this. when stuff like this has been happening for a long time with road development, if they want to build a road throguh your house then they can just pay u fair market value and you cant stop them. so if your going to whine about this one you may want to look into that one too.

Look deeper into the issue, even if goverment has a slight upper hand with a new law, the matter can still be buried in litigation to the point that the government yields, pays a higer price for the land, and a mutual disagreement is resolved.

no **** dumbass. this is vaugely similar, but in this case they are seizing this land for a private company or individual to set up a business where they profit from it.

The ammendment that covers emminint domain says that land may be taken from and individual for fair compensation and only for PUBLIC USE. not so rich SOB joe blow can come in and set up a mall.

Read, research, and think before you post and save the rest of us from the idiocy.

by the constitution, this shouldn't even be ans issue that requires a fight.

What if I have sentimental value attached to the property that can't have a value attached to it? the government should have no right up uproot me. period.

This is an issue that I plan to fight to the very end. I will do everything in my power to end it, and am going to spread the word everywhere I can and hopefully I will have a good group of people helping me with the cause.

What you are talking about is understandable, and just, but what you are forgetting is, the government doesn't give two shits about sentimental value. By the time a land owner is notified of an impending change, Federal planning comissions and engineering departments have sank hundreds of thousands of dollars into research, projected timelines, geology studies, surveys, budget requirements etc. A lone land owner doesn't stand a chance against the Juggernaut that is the Federal governmnet. Some communities have held out in a joint effort at which point the government makes a slight change to the plan and makes that communities' life miserable during the construction process and can influence local governments to make changes to further disrupt the lives of the people in that community. I'm not saying it's right, but it happens everyday.

and you think that we should just sit here and take it like a bitch?

**** that. If you want to be nutless and just let them buttfuck you, thats fine with me, but I'm not going to join you. I fight for what is mine. The government was founded BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE, and I am going to do everything in my power to get it back to that. Even if I don't succeed, I will be able to say I tried, and didn't ***** out.

well if you know the constitution soo well, you would know that the fifth amendment said nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
