the older ones had a v6.

i knew someone who had one and swore up and down it was a v8, i even popped his hood and counted the plugs for him. he still wouldnt believe it was a 6.

um. wow. youre talking to the guy with most likely just as much if not more then you tied into a similar car...plus i have an fd with somewhat similar amounts in it.

i was directing my comments towards the people buying the vettes....did you read the rest of the post?

kevin.

Reading Comprehension > Me.

Sorry about that.

I expect this car is being targeted towards the Ford GT Crowd?

How is this new vette only going to be 15K more than a Z-06.

We are all on the same page then, only a fanatic would buy one of these cars, I don't get it. Plus, like you eluded to Kevin, its a Corvette.

Up until a few years ago Yamaha built all of Mercury Marines complex engines, they were building all thier

4 stroke outboard engines until like 5 years ago.

I cant say for sure who had thier hands in that engine, saying Mercury built it might have been good practice because

more people know Mercury uses GM motors.
That would make sense...Public relations..

People would have a stroke if they knew a Corvette had a Japanese engine

I dont think people will pay over $100k for a vette.

At least the GT40 is a unique and rare car all by itself, not just a tuned version of another car.

I cant see people paying double the price and still driving a corvette.

Its a special edition vette. People will eat it up, pretty much whatever they set the price at. And even at $100k, nothing currently in production will match the performance of this car. The vette is very much american, its not going to have the polish and prestige of some of the european supercars, but at the end of the day, its performance per dollar is damn hard to beat. Not to mention the cult-like following the vette has enjoyed pretty much forever.

they are convinced because the car can out perform cars costing well over $100k, and its made in the USA.

And yes I know you could take half the money and put it into blah blah and be quicker- thats not the point.

point is you can get into a dealership friday afternoon and drive one away, beat the **** out of it and if it breaks they

fix it.

I totally understand the whole warranty thing but, honestly, the car drives itself and that is boring. One of the biggest reasons I sold my 2003 JCW MINI and bought a 1980 911 was because the MINI, while an awesome car, was boring on the track, it drove itself it made no mistakes. I have heard the same with the newer vettes, very easy to drive unless you turn off the TC.

Give me a car that is raw, it may not lap as fast as a new vette but I will have 10X more fun making it go fast. That is driving.

I think the new ZR-1 should come with these beauties.
