WTF, mice?

I don't have a problem killing them, make no mistake.
And I really don't see how they could make it back to my house, there are 3 houses closer to where I dropped them off than my house (heavily wooded between my house and the drop zone). Including a large mound of garbage our piece of **** neighbors dump behind their house.
But either way, until the car is up and running, I'll keep the traps in the trunk and up front.

I catch mice in 5 gallon pails all the time at my shop.
put it near a shelf with some food in the bottom, they get in and too slick to get out.
I drive them to a lot next to one of the marinas and let them go after that.
bashing them into walls is too much for me, I love animals.
If they are suffering on a trap just drown them.

I caught a third, got rid of him in the same location, except I dumped him over the fence to the neighbors yard, in their trash heap.
Last night I heard what sounded like a scurrying sound behind a ceiling/wall in our house. We don't have an attic, the only thing in that area is an air duct. I'm hoping it's not a critter, maybe it was some debris that fell in the floor vent.
I was banging on the wall/ceiling, and couldn't get it to scurry again. Oh man I hope it's not a creature of some sort.

That air vent is the one that leads to our bedroom, my son's room, and the sole room above ours. I know I would've sprung awake if I heard anything, and I haven't. So I dunno. It may have been something on the roof, which was just a few inches away.
