I was going through the photo album looking for shot of the car when I bought it and stumbled across the two monster wrecks I had a few years back:

The first was in this truck, was a head-on with a HUGE van

The second is in the Cadillac (man, I miss that car!!!) Left the highway @ 85 mph after running another car off the road (road rage was a small problem of mine, but as you can see I have mellowed some due to sliding across the grass and slamming into old growth timber)

I have asked the same question countless times, the ONLY explanation, other than divine intervention, would be that the wreck wasn't a straight head-on, but more a left of center head-on, so because I wasn't wearing my sealbelt I was allowed to bounce around the cab like a pinball. My chest had the imprint of the right half the steering wheel and my face was cut up only on the right side. The ladder rack absorbed alot of the impact, before it broke away from the bed, but the truck ended up only sliding 180 degrees after the impact.
