Woe is my transmission
#13
Yes so the first shop I took it to, the one my father always goes to, the one whose "fix" to the door sagging in the Pup was to jack it up and put a ******* dent in the bottom of it which I had to iron out, well they replaced the shifter plate, and charged me 800 bucks because they had to drop the transmission. Well a week and a half later I had 1st and fifth and nothing else. So I was like **** this, I'm taking it to Mr. Transmission. 1700 dollars, synchro set, input shaft, bearings, bushings, lower shifter plate, and some other crap later the transmission is ******* perfect. Better than when I bought it. Yeah Tom's can go **** themselves. Only problem is they switched the keys between me and another customer so I have to open my back window which is broken squeeze in and unlock my doors, luckily the key works in the tumbler. It's been a week and a half since I got the truck back, and the guy is still giving me excuses as to why he hasn't gotten the keys exchanged yet. So if on Thursday I don't have my key, I'm getting a new one cut and charging them. So overall I'm happy with the work they did, just not happy with this guy being lazy. So next up I need to get new pads for the front brakes this week, cause it's getting scary. Then maybe rear shoes, new plugs, wires, filter, fluids. Ugh, it just sucks that on top of the basic maintenence that I need to do, I've got a 2500 debt on my credit card, that I have to pay off. So yes I'm up to full time at one job, and looking for a second, and hoping I can get my schoolwork done in between. Yeah so not too happy, just trying to deal with the bull ****.

Yah, that's a lot o' green, but at least it's fixed. Gotta wonder if it wouldn't have been cheaper to put a good used tranny in there. Not sure what they cost, and if you can't put it in yourself you still have to pay somebody to do it, which is never cheap.
You'll get through it. You will look back on these days fondly and chuckle to yourself.

I got a used tranny installed in my old Camaro for $500 CDN. Worked like a charm for another 100,000kms till some old dude hit me.

Yeah I could have bought a used tranny and put it in there for cheaper, but I was too worried about it breaking again. Plus I needed to get the tranny fixed quickly because I have to drive to work and school. But now that it is done, I'm going to just fix the small problems that are left and keep the truck, since I already have this much invested.
