You know the blue screen with the Windows XP logo, it appears just prior to the logon selection screen - You'll be locked in that, it will never go past that screen. Same thing happens if you change more than 3 hardware devices since activation. (I changed my HDD, Vid card, DVD player, sound card, added RAM.. XP locked me out of my comp.)
wow, i didn't know that. I should give it a shot...

If you have a valid key, and it wont let you register online, just call them. Ive called the number at least 6 times. Just tell them youve had to re-install, blah blah blah. They give you an activation code and your done.

Well, the problem is that they key has been used to register one version on one comp. and activate on another so I get the message I need to purchase additional liscences so I can activate/register on my comp.

Cool

My first copy of XP was cracked and the only downside to that is you can't use windows update, it says yer CD key is invalid, and won't let you continue, If i remember correctly, i found a way around that but i don't remember how...i eventually just went to Rent-A-Center and made them give me my restore CD's (but told them i had a different comp that came with XP Home, mine originally came with 98SE...) and had a legal copy and never worried about it again....
