The Fjo's have been rock solid for me, and track right along with the wideband on my dynojet.

I havent had good luck with the innovate, a friend left an lm-1 for me to use and it was a POS. I had to resolder a bunch of connections on the board, and it would error out just when you needed to look at it. It was an earlier model, they may be better now.

If I were to buy another one now, it would probably be an hks knock amp .

My Innovate LM-1 has been fine. No complaints. Absolutely reliable. I can't vouch for the accuracy, but I'm pretty confident it's close, since the T2 runs well on my tune on the Haltech, and it hasn't blown up yet, but it's not for lack of trying.

I think I asked one of the local tuners about the innovative when I had seen one for sale at a good price, for

whatever reason he did not approve, but that could be personal preference.

He did tell me you cant go cheap on them.

Amp, what EMS are you using?

The reason I ask, is its best to look at how you are going to integrate the wideband into the ems datalogging, I know alot of widebands come with their own datalogging software but to be honest, its so old school and a royal pain in the *** to have 2 laptops running in the car, then trying to mesh the data from the ems and the WB into a useable format for analysis.

Can you define the WB output, does it have have a narrowband out etc etc..

Its almost worth looking at new EMS these days as now you can actually do it all in one package, wideband, egt, boost control, knock control etc etc and not have to worry about cross communication and datalogging setup.

Look at stuff like the Motec m800, autronic, link etc, you can take all your old add on boxes and toss them out the window. Theoretically if was possible to do before, but the older ems's never really delivered their promised functions to well.

when I first put my vert together I had a Wolf V3, when it came time to install it I did have a new harness but the

local Wolf tuner wanted me to upgrade, I just did not want to spend the money on it.

So in it went, we tuned, things were ok.

I had to buy a boost controller as well, I had a used HKS sitting for a few years, it turned out to be no good.

I come across a brand new V500 being sold, so I buy it, then buy the patch harness, then buy another solenoid so

I can use the built in boost controller, and re-tune.

Anyhow, the point of all this is that it would have been cheaper for me to bite the bullet and went for the new EMS to begin

with.

So if AMP starts to add all this up and gets close he may want to also look into the possibility of a new EMS, but what if

he is running a power FC and thats nice and simple for these cars and he may not want to swap it out.

Exactly..

The power FC is a simple install, but its a PIA to integrate other things into and getting it in synch with other devices to read all the same values can be a chore..

The datalogit interface sucks for sampling rate, the apexi interface is much better but lacks the input of the datalogit.

Its an Ems that is really starting to show its age, as other EMS's are moving towards total vehicle control. It does have some of the best timing control of the usual rx7 EMS's though and has OMP support. If I had a relatively stock street driven FD and my max boost was gonna be 15 psi, sure..

My next ems is a motec m800, I am going to use the motec dash, and power modules for device control. Its alot of cash, but it means traction control, boost per wheelspin, boost control with multiple settings, multiple fuel maps, no more cheesy relays, fuses strewn through out the car, or multiple brands of guages mounted all over the place that I can't datalog. Its OEM quality and fit, has dual wideband in put, quick lambda along with spark retard from SKM knock module.

Not saying others should go out and blow 9k on the motec setup, there are other choices out there that offer similar features, Motec charges what they do, because their stuff works and their tech support is awesome, especially for racers.

The new LINK plug in , looks interesting, as does autronic stuff, and now that Autronic has gone through some hierarchy changes, it's probably going to be better supported now.

Haltech lost my faith with their later E series stuff.. Aem looks awesome, but it never managed to go anywhere on rotaries..Pectal,EMS ? FConvpro is awesome, just don't expect to ever tune the car yourself.
