Lets see some pics and how much you paid. If you have a 3000+ dollar 46 inch+ wide snap-on, matco, Sk etc... then let's see it.

I'm looking for used 46 inch wide chest, don't need the cabinet... how hard is it to find a nice used one? I'm sick of having my tools in 4 different tool boxes/buckets.

i really need to get one, but then i started talking to some of the techs at my work, where they were spending 12K on one, it kinda pushed me away from the idea.

I just got a nice little snap on box myself..

I don't pay until July, then it's $50 a month.

Why snap on? It's primo ****, warranty forever (on those roller bearings - you'd be surprised after you get a wrench set and put it in a cheap craftsman box, then the slide mechanism cant take the weight of the tools), and yes snap on takes trades on old boxes because they don't lose their value if you keep them in mint shape. All it did was make sense to me. I get a primo *** ******* box without paying any money down, it's indestructable and not cheap by any means (they never disappoint, they just make you say "sweet!" everytime you put tools in it), got that nice snap on logo on it. And it's basically an investment if you keep it in nice shape.

A guy I worked with had a $3K box from snap on he got a few years back, all he has done is kept it in nice shape, no dings, no scratches, then snap on offered him almost $5k for it now since the model isn't available anymore..

Spendy for sure, but high quality and full warranty. Good customer service, tools and toolboxes retain value through the years, etc..

I paid $5200 for my snap on box, and I got a good deal on it. It retailed for $7600. But I work on cars everyday so I see it as an investment. It securely holds the tools that I make my living with. I probably have $30,000 worth of tools, that I use on a daily basis.

It is true that you can trade up or resell for damn near what you paid for it, as long as its in good condition. There is no comparison between a snap on box and a craftsman or kobalt box. The craftsman is great for a do it yourselfer but snap on is for professional everyday use. Its not really worth it to spend the money on snap on if you don't use it everyday.
