OH no NURSING STUDENTS say ATKINS is bad!!!!!!!

Get a F@!%$@% LIFE!

My MD, Cardiologist, allergist and my wife (A RN with 15 years experience) agree the Atkins diet is better for you than being overweight.
Excuse me? You don't need to be rude about it.

You can have your difference of opinion, but your arguement lacks any validity with such things as "Get a #)(%* Life!" Truth be told it's only those with weak arguements that need insults to somehow "back up" their statements.

That beign said, its not just the "Nursing students" that KNOW this, (Keep in mind, there is no belief, its fact or fiction...) it's their professors, the scientists, the books, the articles.

And OF COURSE being on the atkins could/should be more healthy than being OVERWEIGHT. Thats like saying having a running engine that leaks oil is better than a blown one...it's common sense. Doesn't mean an engine that leaks oil is healthy though

Keep it clean fellers, there's no reason to argue about this. If it works for you, fine, but I'm just saying its not the ONLY way and the healthiest way to lose weight...cause it's already been proven.

The sky, is blue.

Did you read the definition of deprived yet?

Pastry is good.

BTW, the Atkins diet isn't like overboosting a rotary. It's like finding a fuel that takes a Supra, doubles its power, halves its weight, and makes it run as clean as a hybrid Civic. It may surprise you to know that the medical world is slowly gaining acceptance of the Atkins diet, too. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks.

I'm not here to fight, but I do enjoy dispelling myths that people always regurgitate whenever Atkins is mentioned.

Phoenix, do you have any firsthand knowledge of this at all? Just curious, although I think I already know the answer.

in-bred the tuttles?

Wow, FYI I know them personally (took his daughter to prom) and that insult was not called for.

Again, can you stick to the topic at hand?

Here's a quote:

"While it is true Atkins dieters may shed some pounds initially, as they would on any reduced calorie diet, they are likely to gain the unwanted weight right back. Further, the Annals of Internal Medicine published a Harvard study earlier this year showing that high-protein diets like the Atkins plan may cause permanent loss of kidney function in anyone with reduced kidney function - and as many as one in four Americans may already have renal problems. Other studies have shown that meat-heavy diets significantly increase the risk of colon cancer and osteoporosis.

Decades of nutritional research indicate that making permanent lifestyle changes, such as eating naturally low-fat fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans, and exercising daily, is the best way to achieve and maintain a desired weight. People who switch to a vegetarian diet lose an average of 10 percent of their body weight - without damaging their health in the process.

Again, this seems to be like arguing Evolution. You can give me tons of quotes from "People up high and knowledgable" that can argue both sides, but I'll trust the fact that regular dieting and exercise is the best way, not some wacky deprivation of a single type of intake .

Oh and UniqueII, i know what you are trying to say, but NONE of anybody's (on this board) defense of Atkins will be as FIRSTHAND as my info is (Which it obviously isn't, sorry I don't have a lab in my basement). All of the pro-atkins defense will be information heard by such and such, through so-and-so, written by Joe Shmoe from X college research. As you can see above.

Simply saying the Atkins diet helped you lose 40lbs doesn't mean its the best way or done healthy, how hard is that to grasp? it's the same reason I wrote "I heard throwing up helps cheerleaders lose tons of lbs!".

I'm spent.

I understand it's just the internet. And because of that reason plus the fact that I am who I am I didn't return it with more insults

But, it hit home personally. His daughter is beautiful, christian, strong willed, and very very nice and would give anyone the time of day (unlike most/some beautiful women). She's awesome and so is her brother, given her family isn't perfect, but of course that show is going to exploit any family problems.

BTW- The inbred joke is for the southerners, might you forget I (And the shop) are only an Hour From NYC and are from generally the most expensive place to live in NY (with NY being already one of the most expensive state's to live in) :P.

http://www.leonardfitness.com/atkinsdiet.htm <--more reading.

Anyways, personal life aside, I just had a small input on Atkins, just to be sure everyone's not misinformed. I never said anyone MUST do it, or MUST stop. Just had my input...don't like it? Don't follow it/read it.

So yea, let me get back to work bub, they think i am typing up a report here, sheesh. later.
