yep i'm out lnearly 25k now that its all said and done without **** to show for it. BUT i'll have my baby running in '09 with a B-port -RE and a 60-1. it'll be put together and tuned by the guys at Rotary Performance. it'll cost me, BUT you get what you pay for(sometimes).
sorry to hear bout the investments gone wrong. my dream is to build my own shop and R&D my own **** someday. maybe when i retire from the army i'll beable to get there. who knows...

Man that sucks....I have a really good feeling I am about to get screwed over pretty bad...I moved away this summer for my seasonal work (parasail captain) so while I was gone I took my FD that I bought recently to a local race shop that has a good rep with rotaries even though they are small, I just wanted everything checked out really well and the guys advice if I needed anything done, so he retunes my car and says my mixture was way off and he fixed a vacuum leak and compression stuff.
I come back over 120 miles and pick my car up on a day off, on the way home I really feel as if the car got WAY SLOWER and then I notice fifth is poppin out...the next day I drove it I lost 5th completely couldnt put it in reverse...the 5th synchro went out so I called the shop up and took it back to them and went back to work many miles away...and asked the shop to just call me when they fix it...two weeks after not hearing anything I called them up and was told they were waiting for parts...alright no big deal
Another month goes by and I still hear nothing so I call them up and ask whats up and the mechanic working on my car wasnt there so i had the secratery take my number and have him call me when he gets in...the mechanic calls me and says he needs an advancment of $350 to get everything in and the transmission sent out because he cant fix it so i pay him...3 days go by and a friend of mine calls me up and says he had an RX7 tranny come into his work, owning the only 7 within almost 100 miles I knew it was mine, my friend works at a VERY expensive tranny place or I would have went there first.
So I call the shop up and they said thats where they sent my tranny and they were just finishing it up for them and I would have my car shortly...
2 months later the summer season ends and I return home and first stop is getting my car...it isnt done...they tell me I have to go to the tranny place and find out whats up...so i drive over there and the mechanic tells me he cant get the 5th gear assembly in because he cant find one and i should help him locate it...so now I have a used transmission in the shipping process I am going to have put in and have a disgusting feeling I am going to have to fork over an arm and a leg to get my car back even though no work was done...AND MY CAR GOT TO SIT IN ******* GRASS OUTSIDE FOR ALMOST 4 MONTHS!!!!

It was outside STL, yes. I'm the one who sold Dave his kit. THINKING I was selling him the same thing they built me. I even posted pics and everything... they shipped him a kit with a knockoff HKS wastegate with a condom for a diaphram, a downpipe with a dumptube that didn't clear, and god knows what else. Martin (FIKSE) had the same problems... or worse. Every time I gave those guys money (Davinci motorworks - not to be confused with the reputable shop that builds carbs & ****) they would use it for something it wasn't intended for. You should see the mess that was left behind... there was a FD there awaiting a built and twin turbo 460, chrome paint job... you name it. Guy had sent them like 20K cash... I don't think one part was ever bought for that car. There was a thread on the club about it when they started the build... not sure where it went but I know the car never got done. Hell - the owner of the rx7club had his car there... I'm not sure what ever happened with that either.
There was one other guy who invested too that got screwed... but he ended up starting his own place and is now doing well. Thank god!
I'd have to dig up their names... Ron and Mark. Wasn't really that close with them. Of course, I still probably don't know the whole story. What I do know is I'm out a **** ton of money, and a few GOOD FELLAS here got fucked over too because of it.

I don't think one part was ever bought for that car. There was a thread on the club about it when they started the build... not sure where it went but I know the car never got done. Yeah, I lived very close to Dave, practically 1 minute drive to his house, and lived right across the street from his parents' house. So I was there when he was going through that whole turbo kit dilemma. That downpipe was a pain in the *** I do remember.

I got screwed then reimbursed I have a friend that I was working on his RX-7 I did a motor rebuild for him $500 did 3 microtech installs once in one car then another then back to the same one with diffrent motor $2500 dyno tuned like 4 hours $200 countless maintanance oil changes, spark plugs, electrical bug fixes, id say around 5K worth of work that i stupidly did not charge for. till he blew the turbo motor i built then he decided to go V8 so i got the following for my troubles
