Ok so here's wut i got goin. I ordered "florida road kill" by tim dorsey, pretty much killed that whole book this weekend 
which sux cause here's what i am waiting on;
Mutiny on the Bounty Trilogy, three novel set.
The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire
Stormy Weather by Carl Hiaasen (never read any of his)
and another Herman Wouk book, i like many of his others, can't remember which i ordered.

Robert Ludlum i think is pretty good as far as action books go. I am kinda big on sci-fi, and although the next two may possibly be classified as that, they are phenomenal books and definately not stereotypical sci-fi. They are "Dune" by Frank Herbert and "Oryx and Crake" by Margarette Atwood.

One thing about the dorsey books which I've seen commented on before but never really put much thought into.
The first book of his I read was "The Big Bamboo" follows a serial killer (serge) and his buddy (coleman). Anyhow, that book was the about the seventh in the series, i went back and read previous books, no worries, serge and coleman, however, this time I read the first book, (florida roadkill) which developed the character (made some sense out of stuff) however, coleman gets killed in the first book, which makes the later books seem a bit off, but apparently that is part of the humor, or something to that effect.
Oh well I'm on to the three novel set Mutiny on the Bounty Trilogy.

I'm through the first novel of the Mutiny on the Bounty Trilogy,, ****** awesome, i don't know that the second novel in the series will be as good though, as the first book pretty much tells the ending of the second as they end up at the same ultimate conclusion, just a different perspective so to speak

I thought of this thread over the weekend.
I picked up a copy of Jonathan Dickinson's journal. Its his journal entries from his shipwreck experience in the mid 1600's. He wrecked in what is today the Jupiter area and was held captive by Indians.
He set out for St. Lucia thinking it was a Spanish name and he would be able to seek help there, hoping to go further to St. Augustine then on to his original destination Philadelphia.
Its a good read and pretty interesting considering we are living in the exact place where it all happened.
I found my copy out at the Florida Oceanographic Center when I was there with the kids.

I'm into Brad Meltzer's books now - he's a local FL guy, but lived in DC for a while. Does tons of research which he includes in his books. The stories are fictional, but the details are fact/possible. I've enjoyed "Book of Fate" and "Millionaires" - I'm onto Brad Thor's new book now - only about 5 chapters in, but its pretty good. I like the psuedo fictional books w/ some conspiracy, lol...
