hey, its summer and me and my friends have nothing to do, we wanna make a "weedwacker powered rollerblades", using a battery powered weed wacker, will this actually work,,,,,,,, we plan on getting r momentum going first, then pull down the throttle, and hope that keeps pushing us

It may if you described it better. I think if you get too much momentum though, the "push" of the weedwacker motor could actually slow it all down and may do it pretty quickly. Like say the motor's good enough to push you to 5 or 6 mph but you're already going 10 when you start it, if the motor doesn't get messed up from it, wouldn't you think that it has the potential to "jerk" you back to the motor's own limit, thereby tossing the person using them off?

i dont think it would slow them down, and i think it would go faster than 5 or 6 mph, those things run at like 10k rpm or so. i would be worried about losing your balance if you go full throttle too quickly

I was using the speed estimates for trying to explain my point. Like a local idiot trying to jump start his dirt bike and he gains too much speed for 1st gear to handle so he gets abrubtly slowed to the speed it can go to and gets flung over the handle bars.

well, having the motor connected while you are trying to get up to speed will make it harder cause you are essentially charging the batteries while doing it. Try it out and tell us (after you get out of the hospital)

any idead on how exactly I can do this, i got my weedwacker and old rollerblades, i was thinking of connecting a 5th wheel to my blades,

so do u think that say i get going at a descent speed then push down the throttle, i will be able to move without me having to put anymore effort into it

your going to fall flat on your ***, the power is too low and because your center of gravity is high. have you ever seen people try it with rockets? they always fall on their ***.

you could always make a bracket or something (like out of an erector set or something) to mount the motor coming off the side of the blades where the wheels are, and have it just directly connected to one of the wheels... lets see, 10,000 RPM on a wheel thats about 8 cm diameter, so 25 cm/revolution, 250,000 cm/min, 2.5 km/min... yea, nevermind, you'll def need some sort of gearbox to reduce speed and increase torque, not to mention that weedwhacker motors are made for high speed and almost no torque, so gearing it down prob wont help a whole lot, not to mention that if you mount the motor/gearbox on the side of the skates you wont be able to lean too far in that direction without it scraping the ground. Interesting idea, but im not sure if itd work... Now maybe if you made a motor with a stationary, mounted hub and rotating outer shell casing, cover the outside casing with rubber and mount that in place of one of the wheels, it may work better. give it a shot, hell, why not.
